Aelyn walked inside of the room and turned around to see the two doors closing behind her. As soon as the doors were sealed shut, she was engulfed in darkness.
The first thing she notices was the cold. Then the humming sound of the defence walls and at last she smelled bleach. Slowly her eyes started to adjust to the pitch black room.
Aelyn took a few steps forward, towards the centre of the room. With each step she took, the smell of bleach got stronger. She knew what that meant. She wasn't the first one to come here and the ones before her had not left this place. At least not alive. What was even more noticeable about it all was that Olympus wasn't trying to hide it.
Mutants were killed here.
She heard the sound of a light turning on before the spots in the sealing lit the entire room. She blinked her eyes against the bright light as she looked towards the ground. Right before her a red stain covered the white tiles, then to her left a couple more.
She looked up and found her own reflection looking back at her. Helena had not been wrong, Aelyn thought. She really looked like shit. Her white locks full of knots, her skin dull, and she lost weight. A lot. Her golden eyes still as bright as ever, but they looked tired.
She took one last glance at the dark circles underneath her eyes and her boney cheeks before looking away. She looked dead already.
A loud beep, painful to Aelyn's ears, was to be heard in the room before Helena's voice sounded through the speakers.
"Do you hear me, Sage?"
Aelyn frowned at the loudness of her voice. She looked at the mirror and bit down her teeth.
"Maybe turn it up a notch. Hopefully I'll loose the ability to."
A laugh was heard through the speakers, this time she had turned down the volume. Helena spoke once more, but her words weren't directed towards Aelyn.
"Activate the extra seal on the room and turn them off."
Turn what off?
That was when she heard it. The soft humming that had tormented her day and night slowly, but surely came to a stop. Her brain no longer felt under pressure by the machines hidden in every wall. It was gone and her abilities had awakened.
She closed her eyes as she took a deep breath having to adjust at the electric-like sensation that now was running through her veins. It came to her so sudden that she almost stumbled backwards.
The awakening of her oppressed gifts felt like a breath of fresh air. The lack of its presence slowly killing her. It had felt like she was drowning deeper and deeper with every day that went by.
"How does it feel?," Helena voiced through the speaker.
Aelyn ignored the woman and opened her eyes. All of their minds where free game now. Aelyn let her gift seep out of her and stretched its talons to the people behind the glass. She could see them now. All of them, who they were, their thoughts, their memories. She could feel the rapid movements of their hands as they tried to put an extra seal on the control room.
