James had managed to get sleep that night after his nap and dinner. He just tried to force the thought out of his mind. And really, that's how he is going to go through his day today. How he had to get through his day. But, of course, his friends had other ideas.
"So, how many days left, lover boy?" Seamus chuckled beside James open locker.
James didn't reply, but instead responded by banging his head on the closed locker next to him and groaned exaggeratedly.
"Oh, I get it," Seamus realized, "not thinking about it. That won't help, you know."
James sighed, brung his now aching head back and closed his locker. "I know. I can't not think about it anyway. It's so frustrating. I only have a day, a fucking day, until the love of my life and I meet for the first time."
There was a pause between the two boys, until James spoke up.
"I'm scared, Seamus."
"There's nothing to be afraid about."
"I know, but what if she doesn't like me? What if she was expecting someone better? What if she-"
"James, she's your soul mate for a reason." Seamus patted James' shoulder, while giving him a sincere smile.
James smiled back and closed his locker. Getting to his first block class right before the bell rings, just like any other day.

When the bell rung for the end of James' fifth block, it signaled it was time for his lunch period. He stuffed all of his books into his locker before heading to the cafeteria. He grabbed his tray and his choice of lunch and headed to the table him and Seamus always sat at with his group of friends.
"So, I see the lucky man is still flipping out." Eddie snickered.
"Hey, shut the fuck up. I've been trying not to think about it, asshole."
"You haven't been having much luck, huh?" Jordan asked.
James sighed for what felt like the billionth time that day. "No. No, it's not." James admitted.
"Told you it wouldn't." Seamus said.
"Thanks, Seamus." James said sarcastically.
"No problem, buddy." Seamus gave a smug grin, trying to cheer James up, but it didn't work, obviously.
James didn't listen to the rest of the comments they made, nor did he listen to their other conversations. He was too preoccupied in his own worries. No matter what anybody said, he still felt like he might not be good enough for his soon to be lover. Resulting in his father's unhappiness.
James heard the bell ring not long after his thoughts, and dumped his tray and headed to his locker to get the rest of the day over with. Hopefully, it'll get over with quickly, so he can just get ready for tomorrow. He got his stuff and sat down in his second to last class of the day.
~
Leaving school, James couldn't help but think about tomorrow once again. And walking in the front door, James told his mother the same sob story, she gave the same advice, he declared he's taking a nap, and locked himself in his room. But this time, James didn't sleep. No, he couldn't sleep. Instead, he spent hours looking for the right outfit for prom, wondering if it would be nice to go as himself so he doesn't dress up as someone he's not for his soul mate, or get dressed up to impress her. He decided on something in between. A nice button up shirt and some nice jeans. He wasn't sure if he would look good, but figured it was good enough, and, like Seamus said, she would love James the way he is himself.
He just hoped he wasn't lying to himself, or his father.
