James and Aleks had talked for hours on end the night before James went back to school. Resulting, in little to no sleep. Yet, the high school boy pushed on, knowing the sooner he got this day done, this week done, the sooner he can see Aleks.
The whole "my soul mate is a man" thing was nothing to him now, and he barely thought about his father since the fight. It was all going spectacularly well.
James stood at his locker, getting all the usual books for his next class. He absent-mindedly hummed to himself a random toon him an Aleks had heard on the radio.
"James?"
James nearly dropped all his books and fell to the floor at the sudden voice that popped behind his ear.
"Jesus, fucking, hell! Seamus! You scared the shit out of me!" James caught his breath.
"James!" Seamus seemed worried, "We've all been trying to get a hold of you! You either never picked up, or it went straight to voice mail! What the hell?!"
James sighed. "I was talking to Aleksandr." He said blindly.
"Who?"
James realized his mistake and didn't miss a beat to correct it. "Aleksandria! Aleksandria, I mean."
Seamus raised his eye brows. "What are you on about, James?"
James tried his hardest to look as cool as possible. "Nothing. I'm just tired. I was up all night-"
"Talking to Aleksandr?" Seamus smirked.
"Yeah, to Aleksandr-" James paused.
Seamus pulled him away to the boy's bathroom, closing the door behind them and quickly interrogating the suspicious boy.
"You're a terrible liar, James." Seamus began, "Who's Aleksandr?"
James took a deep breath, as panic set into his mind. "Listen, don't tell the other guys, okay?"
Seamus chuckled to himself, realizing what is going down. "Why didn't you ever tell us, James?"
James gave an innocent look.
"Did you really think we'd just immediately hate you if your soul mate was a guy?" Seamus smiled.
James didn't say anything. He was in shock. He was frozen.
"Like I said before, James, he's your soul mate for a reason." Seamus placed a firm hand on my shoulder, and gave me a sincere smile.
"So, you don't care if I might be gay?" James muttered.
"No, James. Not at all. And the guys won't either."
There was a silence between the two boys. Full of just smiles and pats on shoulders.
"So," Seamus broke the quietness, "What's he like?"
The bell suddenly rung, signalling for all students to get to class.
James smiled. "Later, okay?" He said, opening the door and parting ways with Seamus.
