"I know demons, Bruno," Brendon explained in an attempt to support his argument, "I have one inside of me, remember?"

"Like that makes me want to trust you, not that I did in the first place." Bruno collapsed on the floor and leaned up against the wall. The new alpha closed his eyes and tilted his head up to the sky. "In just a year, I lost Kenya, then Anthony. Now I may lose the city I care about, and there's nothing I can do about it."

"It's a pretty shitty city, in my opinion," Brendon muttered, looking at his feet.

"You're really not helping yourself, Brendon," Bruno growled, turning his head to look at the wizard.

"Look, you're the guy in charge now. Yeah, Anthony's as dead as a fucking  doorknob, Kenya may hate you forever, and we may die because of a single mistake, but look on the brighter side."

"What bright side? There is no bright side, Brendon. We're doomed!"

"You have the chance and the manpower to stop this thing," Brendon informed him, "You depend on Kenya so much that you and this town don't know how to live without her. So there might not be a brighter side to this situation, but there's still an opportunity to save everything you and your pack worked hard for." He stood there for a little before placing his hand on his chest and gasping. "Holy shit, did I just say that? Where did that come from? Am I actually trying to be nice to you right now? I don't like this feeling."

Bruno smirked while standing up and walking away, Brendon following in tow. "I don't know what I'm going to do with you," He mumbled.

"It would be nice if you let me go. I really don't like living here. People don't like me here and I don't like the people back."

"Maybe, if we get through this. And the only reason why people don't like you is because of what you did to Kenya. Oh, and the fact that you're annoying."

"Okay, yeah, I can get a little irritating sometimes," The wizard agreed, "But I didn't do anything to Kenya. That was all on you. I just did what you asked me  to."

"Not that, you idiot," Bruno shook his head, but now that he thought about it, he was regretting his decision to wipe  Kenya's memory. All he wanted was to keep her safe and by his side, but now she was possibly thousands of miles away.

"Then what are you talking about?"

Bruno snapped out of his pity party and shook his head. "Nothing." He walked to the front door. "I may need your help in a few days. People are getting a bit scared, thinking about the demons, and it doesn't help that a few wolves disappeared this morning."

"Do you know where they went?"

"No, Brendon, they disappeared. If we knew where they were, we wouldn't say  they disappeared," The Beta corrected the wizard, "Anyways, they're not full grown wolves. Some are seniors in high school, others are starting at the university." Bruno ran his hands through his hair nervously. "The parents came to my office telling me that they were gone. We set out a search perimeter for them, but no one's seen them."

"Well demons wouldn't possess young kids like that. They don't look for  people like that. They look for people who they can manipulate into doing what they want. At first, they'll tell you that they're going to help you do what you want."

"Teenagers are vulnerable and they want everything at their age, so they are the best targets or sacrifices."

"But they're not strong enough. They can't fulfill the demon's desires. That's all demons possess people for - to complete what they can't on their own. A bunch of teenagers aren't what they're looking for. They're looking for people like you and me, people who have power."

"A werewolf's first shift is between their teenage years, and during that time, their wolf is still wild and pretty strong. If they're being possessed, there would be a large number of casualties."

Brendon heaved a sigh and slipped his hands into the pockets of his pants. "Do  you know who they are? Or have pictures of them? I know a lot of people  all around; I could ask them if they've seen them."

"I'll have someone send you a file of all the missing wolves. You let me know if you find, hear, or see anything." Bruno's phone began to vibrate and  the wolf hoped it was his mate, but no luck. It was an urgent phone call  concerning pack business. "Brendon, be reachable. We're going to search for them in the morning; I want you on this."

"Well I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, 'cause you know, I'm kind of under your lock and chain, so..."

"And lose the attitude while you're at it too, okay?" He asked before putting the phone to his ear and walking away, leaving Brendon alone. The wizard rolled his eyes and went in the opposite direction, making his way out of the pack house.
