Patrick and Rachael were sitting in the kitchen one night, the latter showing the former a little innocent spell she knew to make the empty bottle of alcohol they had sitting out on the table fill up. Unbeknownst to them, their sixteen year old daughter was standing outside of the room, watching her parents and hiding in the shadows.
The two adults were a giggling mess, obviously intoxicated and unaware of their surroundings. Rachael smiled widely at her boyfriend, a glimmer in her eyes as she watched him pick up the bottle, amazed by the small trick. Ashley took note of the youthfulness her parents suddenly seemed to possess.
"Holy smokes, how'd you do it?" He asked her, his words slurred.
"Magic," The witch replied, "But I can do something even better. You know how those Catholics claimed Jesus could turn water into wine? Well, I can turn booze into blood. Wanna see?" The vampire eagerly nodded his head, handing the bottle back to his girlfriend. She took it into her possession and set it down on the table, closing her eyes and muttering a few words before pointing her finger and changing the clear, colorless liquid red and opaque.
"Oh my god!" Patrick exclaimed, standing up and smacking his hands down on the table. "That...That's awesome!" He picked up the bottle and admired it. "Why didn't you show me this sooner?"
Ashley just watched from the shadows, her eyebrows furrowing together in confusion.
"Well I couldn't pull out all my tricks when we first met, now could I?" Rachael mumbled, resting her chin on her folded hands and smirking. Patrick stared at the drink for a little before popping the bottle off and chugging the blood, the red substance trailing down his chin and staining his shirt. Rachael laughed, blushing. He finished the bottle and wiped the remnants of the drink off of his lips with the back of his hand. He dropped his hand to his side and looked out into the dark foyer, seeing a figure standing in the middle of it. The smile on his face disappeared and he set the drink back down on the table. Rachael noticed this and followed his gaze.
"You made sure Ashley was asleep, right?" Patrick whispered to his girlfriend, his eyes locked on the dark.
"I thought you did," She responded, standing up and joining her boyfriend's side. He glanced down at her.
"No, it was your night."
"What? It was your night. I did it last night."
"No, I did it last night." The vampire poked his chest and then poked hers. "Tonight was your night."
"She's sixteen. Do we really need to fight on who had to put her to bed? Even though it was clearly your turn."
"It was not my turn! It was yours! I told you before we started drinking!"
"You didn't tell me anything but to get the biggest bottle of vodka we had downstairs," Rachael objected, crossing her arms over her chest.
"You guys are pathetic!" A third voice sounded, attracting the two inebriated paranormals' attention. Footsteps pattered against the floors and, from the foyer, emerged the girl they were arguing over. Their eyes doubled in size and they froze in their places.
"Ashley," Her mother remarked, sobering up almost instantaneously. "What are you doing up? It's late. Shouldn't you be in bed?"
"It's one in the morning," The girl snapped, "I'm a teenager. I don't go to bed till, like, three or four."
"One in the morning?" Patrick repeated, the alcohol still in his bloodstream and not leaving for a while, "Sheesh, Rach." He clung onto his girlfriend's shoulder. "It's really late. Maybe we should be getting to bed."
