Chapter 8: Recovery

~Wes's POV~ 

I saw a figure leaned up against the frozen yogurt place we frequently went. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, Arielle was leaned up against the building knocked out. She had a hand on what looked like a gash in her side, there was blood all over her clothes. 

Drew had dialed 911 and an ambulance was on it's way. Bella yelled for her sister, I ran over to Bella. "Bella she will be okay, we are going to get her help it's okay." "No, what if it's not okay! I don't want her to disappear like mommy did."

At that moment I could see all the heart and pain in that kids eyes. I looked up into her eyes, "Bella Bear we are going to get her help, don't worry she won't disappear." "Promise?" "I promise. I saw a small relief in her eyes as I reassured her she would be alright. 

Drew picked Bella up and I ran back over to Arielle, I grabbed her face and gently stroked it. Her face felt cold, it was pale and lifeless. "Babe...please...please don't leave me..You are the most amazing most strong girl I have ever met..You..You can't-" I turned away from her and cried.

Seeing her hurt this much was killing me, I removed her hand from the gash on her side. Blood was still coming out of it so I took off my shirt and wrapped her abdomen in it putting pressure on it to slow down the bleeding. 

Luckily the ambulance was here pretty quickly, they took her up on a gurney saying a bunch of things I couldn't understand. I couldn't even think properly, Drew and I went back to our house to get a car. I looked at the time and realized it was seven o'clock already. 

Bella has to be back by eight or Arielle can't take her out again. I grabbed Drew by the arm as he was ready to head out, "Dude..Bella has to be back by eight..If she isn't Arielle can't see her anymore.." 

"This is an emergency though!" "How about you bring Bella home, I will go to the hospital with Arielle and then we can pick her up first thing tomorrow? I don't know if she should be seeing her sister in the condition she is in right now." I got choked up saying what I had just said. 

Drew agreed it was best to take Bella home, it took a lot of promises and persuasion. I got in my car and drove towards the hospital as fast as my little car would take me. All I could think about was how I saw her the way she was before. 

She was so lifeless and not herself. It was a scary thought thinking about her being that way, I had only ever seen her happy and care free as usual. I finally got to the hospital and tears were rolling down my cheeks. 

I unbuckled my seat belt and rushed into the hospital, "Can you tell me where Arielle is?" The lady at the front desk looked at me, she seemed sort of angry. "She was rushed in about twenty minutes ago, she is in the ICU." 

Oh no, all the confidence I had just built up for myself came crumbling down as she muttered those words to me. I told myself she would be okay, now I didn't know. She was in the intensive care unit, that could mean anything at this point. 

I walked over to the ICU tentatively, I asked for Arielle and the lady told me to take a seat. They needed to get an exam of her rips and give her stitches for the gash in her side. 

(Several Hours Later) 

~Arielle's POV~ 

I woke up in the worst pain, it was burning pain in my ribs. I reached for my remote to call the nurse, I hit the button and a few minutes a small lady came in. 

"Ah you are finally awake, pain in your ribs?" "Yes..horrible pain..Tell me what's the damage?" "I will let the doc tell you that hun, let me up your pain meds you should try and get some rest he will be here in the morning." 

She started to walk out and then she turned around, "There has been a young man waiting for hours for you, should we let him come in?" "That would be great!" I winced I had said that a little too enthusiastically and it caused pain to run through my ribs. 

Not even five minutes later, someone walked in my room. I was so relieved to see Wes, he timidly walked over to me seeing how much pain I was in. He grabbed a chair and set it next to my bed. 

"I'm so glad I'm seeing you babe." He said as he gave me a weak smile. "I'm glad I'm seeing you, I missed you." "I missed you more, I thought I was going to lose you forever.." "Nah you can't get rid of me that easily!" I said as I winked at him.

He chuckled and smiled at me. "Where's Bella?" "Drew took her home and then came over to the hospital, I told him to go home an hour ago and I would text or call him when I knew what was going on." 

"Oh my goodness, I owe him big time." "He really loves that kid, you don't him a thing. We just need to focus on you getting better." He grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers together, it sent a warm secure feeling through my body and I smiled at him. 

"Babe you look exhausted, sleep." I said looking at a very tired Wes. "I'm not leaving your side.." "I never said you had to, you can stay here with me." "Fine, night babe." "Night handsome." We both fell asleep, and the morning seemed like it came way too soon. 

I was woken up by the doctor, he was keen on telling me what mess I had gotten myself into. "Well Arielle you have a few broken ribs, three broken fingers, a sprained ankle, and a busted lip." "Wow, I didn't even realize it was that bad.." 

"You won't be able to do much for the next month, do you have someone to take care of you for the time being?" I got really nervous at that question because, I couldn't go back to the foster home with how broken I was. 

"Yes, she does." Wes squeezed my hand and smiled at me. Gosh he was so caring and sweet to me. "Alright, well we will send you home this afternoon with some medicine, take it easy. And please stay away from allys!" 

I smiled at him and promised I would. Wow what was I going to do, I knew I was already going to be in trouble by the people at my foster home. I was so broken and I couldn't go back to the foster home..How was I possibly supposed to recover?
