Chapter 14
Sophie
"Thanks," I mumbled.
Adam sat down across from me and cupped his hands around his mug of regular tea. He watched me closely and I looked at a spot on the wall. When I turned my head to meet his gaze, we both quickly turned our heads down to stare at our mugs of tea. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a light blush creeping to his cheeks.
"Um, so are you feeling better?" Adam broke the awkward silence. He looked up and our eyes met again.
"Yeah, thanks. I think I'll go lie down in a little while, though." Adam nodded and I tapped my fingers on the table. A thought crept into my head and I stood up briskly. "I'm going to get my phone. I'll be right back."
He took a sip of tea and waved me ahead. I walked into the hall slowly, still feeling quite woozy and sick. I heard some noises and I cautiously entered the living room, where my phone was on the coffee table. I gasped at the sight in front of me.
Alice was lying on top of Mitch, her hands pressed against his chest, and one of his hands resting on her back, the other on her bum. My eyes widened when a moan escaped from Alice and they deepened the kiss. I bit my lip and cleared my throat. Alice's head shot up and she looked at me, her lips full and swollen, her face flushed red and she and Mitch were both breathless. They didn't even look awkward that I had just walked in on them having a heated make-out session. They seemed like it happened every day. I walked over to the coffee table and picked up my phone.
"Don't mind me. Go ahead and have your fun." I began to walk towards the door frame and then stopped and said over my shoulder, "Oh, and get a room, would you?"
They laughed like lunatics as I walked back to the kitchen, annoyed. The laughing stopped and I knew they had returned to their kissing. I set my phone on the kitchen table and sat down, sighing. Adam had another sip of tea and looked at me questionably.
"They're still making out, aren't they?" Adam rolled his eyes and I nodded. "And how are you feeling?"
"I'm okay, I guess. Thanks for helping me and driving me home and everything." I let my hair out of the ponytail I had put it in when I was throwing up, and ruffled it, letting it fall around my shoulders.
"Yeah, no problem." Adam stirred his tea silently but then looked up. There was a mischievous glint in his eye. "So now that I've driven you home, and held your hair back when you threw up, does this mean we're friends?" He watched me expectantly.
I gulped nerviously and avoided his gaze by pretending to be fascinated with the table cloth. I knew I couldn't get away from the question forever so I looked up and opened my mouth. I guess the day has come to admit that Adam, was I suppose, my... Friend. He had helped me when I was feeling sick. And he was pretty nice. Even as hard as it was to say, it seemed like I had made another friend without trying.
"Y-yes. I suppose we are f-friends." I offered a weak smile. Was that a hint of sadness in his eyes? Whatever it was, it disappeared seconds later and was replaced with a wide grin.
"Great. Well, I better be going, I hope you feel better. See you at school when you're healthy." Adam waved and left the house.
I sat there until my phone made a bell chime, broke the silence. I picked my phone up, unlocked it and checked my texts. There was one from my friend Kelly Summers.
KellRocks: Hey, I saw u dashed off with some hot guy from school. What happened? Did somebody get lucky? ;)
I rolled my eyes and typed a reply.
SophieStark: No -.- he's just a...friend. He was driving me home because I couldn't find Alice and I'm sick :(
KellRocks: Ugh that sucks! Go have a nap and feel better
SophieStark: Yes ma'am. Ttyl
KellRocks: Cya
I sighed, stood up, and put Adam's and my mugs in the sink. I then picked up my phone and walked slowly down the hall towards my bedroom. I glared when I heard sounds coming from the living room and I ran into my room. I slammed the door shut and sunk to the floor. I put my phone on my bedside table and pulled my legs up to my chest, hugging them tightly. I buried my face in my legs and cried. Something I haven't let myself do since I found out that Alice and Mitch had started dating. I sobbed my emotions and sat there, at my door, as my two best friends made out, and I cried my heart out.

Adam's POV
I walked out of Sophie and Alice's house and ran a hand through my hair. Well, that was awkward. Alice and that Mitch guy having a heated make-out session and Sophie being sick. At least I got to spend time with her. She's so beautiful, and perfect, just everything about her is amazing and breathtakingly incredible. Then it hit me.
You got friendzoned, man. You got friendzoned hard.
I sighed. I wanted more then Sophie's friendship. Yet it took forever to get her to even say we were friends. I guess it would never happen. I suppose I would just have to accept that Sophie would never like me. Maybe I should give up on her and find some other girl to like. Even a one-night stand might make me feel better. Maybe I'll pick up a hot chick at school tomorrow. If I can possibly get Sophie off my mind.
Everything about Sophie, is intoxicating, it's like a drug when she smiles, and I want her to do it again. Even her laugh, is magical and tinkly, a lovely sound. No, I could never forget about Sophie. I wanted her so bad, wanted to taste her lips and feel her pulling me closer and not letting me go. I knew then, that I wanted Sophie, more then anything.

This was epicly fun to write and have the characters evolve even more and give more depth and personality to them.
