Chapter Nineteen
Alice
Sophie grabbed various dresses and threw them behind her after one glance. A large mound of clothes lay on the ground behind her.
"Soph, maybe you should actually look at what you're throwing behind you." I joked, she spun around,
"Al, I need help." She sounded distressed and was worried,
"Clearly.." I mumbled, she raised her eyebrow and chuckled.
"I don't know what to wear." She huffed,
"Ok, go into the living room and sit on the couch. Read or watch tv or something... and I'll pick your outfit!" I pushed out of her room and slammed the door, chuckling I turned around and sighed. Thankfully me and Sophie are the same size, I thought. I slipped out of her room and into mine, grabbing a dress, shoes and some jewelry.
"Sophie!" I screamed and she came running, a book clasped in her hands. She set it down in her room and I gave her the clothes. She went into the bathroom and a few minutes later she emerged.
She was in my shimmery gold dress that reached to just above her knees and some silver jewelry. I handed her the shoes, black wedge heels, and she slid them on. She looked at herself in the mirror and gasped,
"I look-"
"Gorgeous!" I interjected, smiling at her.
"Now, for your hair..." I pulled a drawer open and grabbed my curling iron, waving it in front of her face.
"What, Alice Smythe is letting me use her curling iron!?" She joked, gasping dramatically. I laughed.
"Very funny, I will be curling your hair. You will not!" I pinched her cheek and plugged the iron in.
"Done!" I slipped a silver rose clip to pull her curled hair out of her face, she played with the ends of her newly curly hair. A smiled grew on her face, she opened her mouth but I remembered something, instantly blurting it out.
"Makeup." She turned towards the mirror and nodded. Pulling her makeup kit out of a drawer, she started doing her makeup. She did silver eyeshadow, then black eyeliner and she finished with mascara and red lipgloss.
She turned her head to face me, and I saw an adult on her face. A young adult, capable of doing anything she wanted.
"Wow, y-you look so grown up." I stuttered, looking at her in the mirror.
"I'll always be here, Alice. Always." She hugged me and the door bell rang. I went and answered it.
It was Adam,
"Where's Sophie?" He asked nervously.
"Well hi to you too." I teased, spinning around.
"SOPHIE, ADAM'S HERE!!!!" I screamed. I heard Sophie chuckle and she came walking down the hall, unable to run in those heels. Adam looked mesmerized by the sight of Sophie.
"Lets go!" Sophie waved goodbye and Adam nodded. I mouthed, good luck and she nodded. They left.
I ran down the hall and slid into my room, time to get ready for my date.
I put a red dress, one of my favourites because it's my favourite colour. It goes to mid-thigh, then I put my silver heels on. Quickly I clipped my silver bracelets and a necklace on and slipped matching hoop earrings in.
I walked into the bathroom and did my makeup, a light pink eyeshadow, brown eyeliner and mascara, finishing it with nude pink lipstick. I pulled my hair up into a ponytail, twisting it up into my famous 'ballet bun,' I clipped my red rose clip in and smiled at myself in the mirror.
The doorbell rang and I walked down the hall, feeling confident. I opened it and Mitch stood there, in a tuxedo.
"Hey! So where are we going?" I asked as we stepped out of the house, locking it behind me.
"A ballet!" He smiled, my jaw dropped and I jumped up and down.
"Which one?!" I climbed into his car.
"The Fire Bird!" He turned the key, smiling at me.
"I've never seen that one!" I gushed, smiling and bouncing in my seat.
"I know.."

I closed the door behind me, resting my back against it and sighing. That was amazing, I thought.
"Sophie?" I called,
"Hi, I'm in the living room!" She replied. I walked into my room and changed into my pyjamas. Then I walked into the living room and smiled at Sophie.
"So, want to make some cupcakes?" She stood up, resting her book down on the couch. I nodded,
"Sure, and you can tell me about your date!" We hurried into the kitchen and set up the electric mixer and all the ingredients.
"So where'd you go?" She asked, putting some items in the mixer and flicking the on switch.
"The Fire Bird ballet, it was amazing! What about you, where'd you go?" She blushed,
"A really expensive restaurant, then the movies." She said and turned the mixer off, adding a few more items.
"What movie?" I asked, pulling sprinkles out of a cupboard.
"About Last Night.." She blushed and poured the cupcake batter into the pans. We slid them into the oven and closed it, setting the timer.
I washed the mixing bowl and made some icing as Sophie pulled the cupcakes out. We let them cool for a few minutes before putting the white icing on. We put some multicoloured sprinkles on them and smiled at our creations.
"Mmmmm, they look yummy..." Sophie picked one up and oddly spelled it, I smacked the back of her head and it flung forward into the cupcake. She looked up at me, her nose covered in white icing and sprinkles.
"I had to!" I raised my hands in surrender as she picked up and cupcake and held it up, ready to throw it. I glanced to the side and sprinted around the island and down the hall. I opened the back door and glanced back to see Sophie holding a cupcake, running after me.
I ran around the apple tree in our backyard and dove into a bush.
Sophie laughed, "I know you're here somewhere. I'll get you back Alice, you bet I will!" She said quietly. I poked my head out of the bush and she smirked,
"Gotcha!" She threw the cupcake and it hit me right in the face.
