Chapter Eighteen
Sophie
"Oh, uh, come in, Adam," I bit my lip and stepped to the side. Adam smiled and walked in past me. "Go ahead, sit. I'll just get you a glass of water, yeah?" I closed the door and began to walk towards the kitchen.
"It's alright. I'm not thirsty." Adam shrugged and gestured to the living room. "Can we sit?"
I nodded and swallowed, my throat dry. "Uh, sure," Adam followed me into the living room and he sat on the couch; I sat beside him.
I wiped my hands on my jeans; tucked a strand of hair behind my ear; licked my lips repetitively. Nervous ticks, I noted silently.
"You alright, Sophie?"
My head snapped up; I looked into Adam's sparkling eyes and took a deep breath. I cracked my knuckles and stood up, preparing myself for a speech. I heard a soft thunk and rolled my eyes, knowing Alice had slid to the floor just outside the doorway of the living room to listen. I shoved the coffee table off to the side and stood in the middle of the room, my hands clasped behind my back. Adam sat on the couch watching me, looking very confused.
"Adam, there's something I-something very important I really need to say. Something I should've said a long, long time ago. So sit, and be quiet, and just-I dunno, don't stress me out anymore then I already am."
Adam laughed and raised an eyebrow. "You're kinda scaring me, Soph. What's wrong?"
I took a deep breath, and as I was just going to say it, I heard a whisper come from the hall.
"Just say it already, dammit."
I would've laughed, but at that moment I felt like I was going to pass out or throw up; possibly both. I sucked in a gust of air, and blew it out, trying to calm down.
"Adam,"
"Sophie," Adam quirked an eyebrow and ran a hand through his perfect hair. It fell into his eyes and he shot me a crooked grin. My heart skipped a beat.
"Ikindareallymaybepossiblyreallylikeyou." I rushed and just as the words left my mouth Adam stood up so fast I didn't realize what was happening and then he was in front of me and one hand was on my waist, the other cupping my cheek and his lips were pressed against mine and I didn't understand what was going on until it hit me and oh my gosh.
Adam. Was. Kissing. Me. Adam was kissing me. He was kissing me. This insanely hot guy was kissing me, Sophie Marie Stark. Stuff like that just doesn't happen to me. That happens to Alice.
'Kiss him back, idiot!'
My conscience snapped at me and before I knew it, our lips were moving in sync, his body pressed against mine, and we were kissing, and he was an amazing kisser. And I mean, the best kisser in the world. He tasted like strawberries and vanilla coffee.
When we pulled away from each other, we were breathless, panting for air. His hand was still on my waist, keeping us close, and his other hand stroked my hair softly. My arms had gotten wrapped around his neck at some point and our faces were very close. He rested his forehead against mine and grinned.
"You don't know how long I've been waiting to do that." He chuckled.
"Yes! Finally! Oh my gosh, you finally friggin kissed!" Alice screeched as she fell out of her hiding place, sprawled on the floor, having a total spaz. "Double dates, wedding bells, and baby carriages, here we come!" Alice stood up, ran over to us and wrapped her arms around us, jumping up and down and squealing.
