Rey woke up to no one at her side. It suddenly felt cold, she reached her arm out, feeling around for him. Her hand settled on empty sheets and a wrinkled piece of paper. She snatched at it, using her other hand to rub the remaining sleep from her eyes. The paper was a note and the letters messily scrawled out and blurred, as if the one who wrote it was crying.
Rey,
I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry that I never gave you the love you deserved. Oh, Rey you deserved so much better than my love, than me. I'm sorry I'm such a mess, that I was never there mentally as I was physically. I just wanted to let you know that I love you. I love you so much and that's why I have to say goodbye. Goodbye Rey, I hope you find someone better, much better than I ever was. Goodbye my Rey of sunshine, it's only for the best.

"No..." Rey shook her head finishing the letter. "No. He can't - he..." Rey practically threw herself out of bed, running out the door barefoot and still in pajamas.
"Ben! BEN!" Her voice cracked as the tears threatening to spill came out like a waterfall. "Please don't be too late...please..."
She ran screaming his name until her throat became raw. Her feet were caked with dirt and her face red and streaked with tears.
"Ben!"
The man facing the bridge turned around.
"Please..."
"It's for the best Rey."
"No it's not!" She ran up to him, grabbing his arm. "Don't you see? I love you. You will always be enough for me, Ben. Always." Tears continued to pour from her eyes. "Please! I can't have someone else leave me!" She cupped his cheek.
"I'm sorry Rey."
He kissed her with all he had.
"NO!!!"
She collapsed into a heap of tears
