(My phone froze on Dans face like that I love it)
The familiar sound of the costumer bell fills the air. I glance at the clock, smiling to myself, knowing exactly who it would be.
"Right on time." With a quick glance in the mirror I head out to the front of the shop. A warm pair of greeny yellow blue eyes are the first things I'm greeted with. I feel my heart skips a beat as the tall black haired boy smiled in greeting,
"Hey Dan!"
"Good afternoon Phil! Right on time I see." I smiled, teasing him a little. A small blush rises on his cheeks as he nods.
"So, anything in particular you're searching for? Something pretty for your mother, something fancy for your girlfriend?" Phil immediately shook his head, looking rather flustered.
"N-no, I mean, I don't have a.... boyfriend." I smile to myself, "Actually, I met this guy awhile ago, and I wanted to get him flowers and ask him on a date." I felt my heart drop a bit, of course there's another guy. "Do you have any suggestions? Like if it was you what would you find the most thoughtful to receive?" I sigh silently to myself, forcing a smile onto my lips.
"Follow me." I nod my head towards the door and he eagerly follows, eyes wandering curiously as I lead him through the back of the shop and into the storage room. I open the door and gesture for him to go inside, he sends me a uncertain yet teasing glance.
"If you're going to murder me you may not want to make it as obvious as leading me into a dark ominous room." He smirks. I look into the room, realizing the light is off, leaving it pitch black and giving it a completely eerie vibe.
"Nah I wouldn't murder you, you're too cute, or at least I wouldn't do it here, they could easily trace it back to me." I say jokingly, hoping he wouldn't notice my slip up. He obviously heard me as his face lights up a lovely crimson colour, even the tips of his ears, I mentally slap myself for calling him cute aloud.
He's so cute. Fuck.
I flick the lights on, ridding the room of it's death like atmosphere and he promptly follows me inside.
"Okay so, when it comes to romance and dates people usually go for roses. Yes they are nice but if you want to be more thoughtful then you should be a bit more original. Do you know his favourite flower?" He shakes is head. "Okay, well, then you could always go with tulips, or even lilies."
"What would you think, if it was you." He asks.
"Well I would prefer daffodils, but I'm a bit biased 'cause they're my favourite." He smiles a bit.
"I think I'll take those then, if they're your favourite they must be pretty nice." I smile, walking over and getting the flowers. He sneezes a few times as he holds the flowers and I reprimand him slightly for not telling me he was allergic before I lead him into a room full of flowers.
He happily takes them, pays, and then he leaves me behind with the empty feeling sitting in the pit of my stomach.
I can't help but feel that twinge of sadness throughout the rest of my day. I glance at the clock, sighing in relief as I realize my shift has ended. I hear the bell once again disrupting the silence.
"Sorry, we're closing." I say, not even bothering to turn around.
"Well, you see, I have to have a word with the owner of this joint." My head lift up at the voice.
"Phil?" I say, turning around to be met by those greeny yellow blue eyes once again.
"Hello again!" He smiles shyly, causing my heart to pound.
"Soo, how did it go? Did you ask him?" I ask, curious about how it went. He shook his head,
"Actually, I haven't done it yet..."
"Oh, why not? If you don't mind me asking that is." He smiles once again,
"Well you see he just got off work and I didn't quite know when would be a good time to do it." I force another smile, trying to be polite.
"Well I'd say you better do it quick before you loose your nerve."
"Yeah true, but can I ask a question?" I nod my head,
"'Course." He breaks eye contact, looking at the ground as he still fidgets about.
"Would you, maybe, wannagoonadatewithme?" I froze. My heart pounding against my ribcage. He hesitates to look me in the eye as be awaits my answer. I shake my head, trying to clear my thoughts. I don't know why I was hesitating, my mind was now screaming 'yes.'
"Y-yes, I'd love to go on a date with you." I managed to stutter out. His gaze met mine and he smiled, taking a step closer and holding out a bouquet of daffodils.
"My favourite! How thoughtful!" I teased him slightly, his cheeks now burning, as are mine.
"So tomorrow night, I'll pick you up at 7?" I smile, nodding.
"Sounds perfect!" I say.
"Okay, great. I'll see ya then. Okay bye!" His gaze reaches mine again as he hesitantly leans forward, placing a quick kiss to my cheek before turning around and heading out the door.
He left me once again, cheeks ablaze, heart racing, and completely flustered. Damn what is this boy doing to me. I smile to myself, my hand subconsciously raising to where his lips met my cheek. With one last smile I clutch the flowers to my chest and close up shop.
