•Reconciliation~
Baz's POV~
I almost cried seeing him like this, it was slowly killing me inside knowing I couldn't do anything to help him. Only time could save him now. Penelope has ordered me to watch over him, meaning I have to befriend him. This isn't going to be easy.
Penelope broke the news to everyone, having a little, I can't call it a party, parties are happy. Anyways, I watch silently from the wall as everyone takes their turn, wishing everyone, but mostly Snow their condolences, then going about their day, all while he just stands there, beaten, broken, lost. It took all my strength not to just go and wrap my arms around him, to make him feel okay again.
I noticed Snow slowly start to pull away from the crowd, becoming less and less engaged, until he finally managed to slip out the door without anyone noticing. Anyone but me that is. With a sinking feeling in my gut I decide to follow him.
I make my way through the crowd, slipping past everyone and entering the door myself. I walk along the corridor, quietly, he probably doesn't want to be with anyone right now, my presence may scare him off. I pause for a moment, hearing a faint sound of what must be, crying?
Retracing my steps I follow the sound, pausing in front of the closet door where the sound seems to be originating from. With a deep breath I reach out, grasping the cold handle and slowly opening the closet door.
Pain goes through my chest at the sight. Snow sits in the corner, hands in his face, hair covering his eyes as painful wails escape his lips. I couldn't stand seeing him like this. I quietly shut the door and walk over to him, placing myself beside him and gathering the boy in my arms.
He seems hesitant at first before completely melting into me, his hands grip my shirt as he cries. My arms wrapping around his shoulders to soothe him.
"W-why are y-you here?" He asks.
"Just needed a break from the crowd s'all." I tell him.
"I-i-it's m-my f-f-fault." He cries, so quietly I almost didn't hear him.
"Stop that," I say, "this is not your fault. There was nothing you could've done." He looks up at me, his eyes red and puffy, tears streaming down his cheeks.
"Y-you really believe that?" He questions, I nod my head with a smile.
"It'll be alright, you just need some time." He buries his face back into my chest until the tears stop, turning to me with a genuine smile.
"Thank you Baz. I really appreciate this."
"Anytime Snow, you know I am here for you, you can trust me." He nods once again before wiping his eyes and gathering himself once again.
"Well, people are going to wonder where we went." He stands up, straightening out his clothes before offering me his hand, which I take as he helps me up. Once I'm steady on my feel Snow tugs me forward into a hug. His arms feel warm around me, I feel safe.
"Thanks again, I won't forget this. I know we don't usually talk much but I feel like we'd be good friends, let's make it happen." My heart cringes at the word 'friends' but I cover it up with a smile.
"Yeah, definitely."
