'You keep track of all my sorrows.

You have collected all my tears in your bottle.

You have recorded each one in your book.'

Psalm 56:8

I wonder if any of you have ever kept a diary? I once wrote down everything I ever thought, did or said for about 10 months. I remember finding it very hard to keep up. Did you know that the average human lives for about 70 years (this can be shorter or longer depending on where you live and other factors like that)? I expect that throughout those 70 years, you wouldn't think someone would care about absolutely everything that happened to you.

Yet God does. God cares about every moment in our lives, good or bad. He keeps track of everything that happens to us - a bit like a diary. It might sound a bit creepy, that Jesus knows everything about us, but it just shows how much he loves us. When we are upset, he comforts us. He picks us up and holds us tight because he is our Father and he will never let go. When you are joyful, he is glad. Jesus is always watching over us, protecting us, caring for us. He is the one person who truly understands every part of you. He knows what makes you angry, and what makes you happy. And honestly, we can depend on him, because he is with us and he knows us from the inside out.

Prayer

Dear Lord,

Thank you that you are my Father and you hold me tight. Thank you that you keep track of everything that happens to me, and you care about my life. Please help me to seek refuge in you and trust you no matter what.

Amen
