Loved, Redeemed and Chosen

Day 299

'I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.'

Psalm 116:1-2

What I love about Jesus is that he totally and utterly understands us. There are so many moments where we feel like no-one can go through what we're going through because they don't know what it's like, they don't know what it's like to be us. But Jesus knew us before we were even formed - he knows us better than we even know ourselves.

We can always turn to God when things get tough. He, quite literally, has the weight of the world in his hands, but that doesn't stop Him from listening. That doesn't stop Him from understanding. When we feel like everyone is against us, we can always, always turn to God. We can call on Him for as long as we live, for he is the God who saves, he is the Father who loves, he is the King over all the Earth and He understands.

And now I want to turn this verse around. Because there are so many times when I have said that God calls us to walk in Jesus' footsteps, and this is another one. If we just spoke to God about our fears and rested in the comfort that He understands, we are not reflecting His spirit here on Earth. And lots of us don't tend to listen to others. Lots of us tend to zone out, to ignore what the other person is saying. But today, I know that God is telling each and every one of us to listen. Try to understand what the other person is going through. Share with them that immense love that the Father pours down on us. Let them look to you in times of trouble, and you can point them to God.

Prayer

Dear Lord,

Thank you that you understand me, Jesus. Thank you that you listen. Lord, help me to reflect more of who you are on Earth. Help me to have the patience and kindness to listen to others and appreciate them. Give me the ability to guide them to you through how I act and the things I do.
