"Once in your life, you'd find someone. Who'd turn your world around, pick you up when you're feeling down."

"Oh my god, he's opening his eyes!" Aiden's voice snaps all of our heads in the direction he's pointing to.
Nash.
"Good Lord, yes, he is." Chase immediately runs over to the bed and holds Nash's cold hand. My eyes finally meet the sight before me.
There he was, the man who put his own life in danger for me. The best friend I failed to see earlier. But right now, all that mattered to me was his life. If something had happened to him, I can't really promise something good for myself.
Nash shifts in the bed and groans suddenly. "Fuck. Where the heck am I?" He puts a hand on his head and flutters his eyes open. For a moment, I see his body freeze in the state.
Guess he wasn't expecting everyone to see him at the same time.
"What happened?" He croaks and scans the crowd - consisting of his friends and me...when his eyes land on me I take in a sharp breath. He doesn't say anything but you know what they say,
Eyes are the windows to the soul.
The usual glee in his blue eyes was gone, replaced with clouded confusion.
His eyes spoke and in that moment, I didn't need any words in reality. That was more than enough for me. I dared not to move towards him, even though his eyes practically begged me to.
"What the fuck were you thinking when you got yourself stabbed, huh?!" Max was the one to yell this time. I had never seen him in a more vulnerable and desperate position at his best friend, tears picking his eyes.
"You fuckhead, what if you had died, huh?! What would've happened to me you fucking idiot! Did you think that before taking her position? Huh?" Max points in my direction and I swallow hard.
Nash remains silent, his breathing raged...still. "I, I didn't think of anything at the moment." He smiles sadly, his eyes darting to me.
"So...how was prom?" He says.
Silence.
Absolute and utter silence.
"You guys ran from the prom here, didn't ya?"
From the corner of my eye, I see Chase and Aiden, their mouths agape. "You, you think this is fucking funny?" Max was the first to break the silence.
Unlike me, he didn't know what Nash was doing.
He was trying to keep the tension at bay even though that wasn't possible given our current situation.
"No, ugh, my head hurts." He groaned and I finally moved forward, I urged to run a hand through his messy hair and smoothen it out but I refrained from doing so.
Just how bad I wanted to touch him...
"And no, of course this isn't funny. I'm just generally asking. How was prom?" He said, his trembling hand now reaching the side table to retrieve the glass of water on it.
"Here, let me." I said before he could take it in his hands. I put the glass to his lips and he gulped down the cool liquid, his electric blue eyes never leaving mine.
