Chanell's POV
We finally reached the party Kelsey was talking about, the car ride was awfully awkward due to the fact that it was the most dead silence, not a word uttered out of Kelsey or Dylan's mouths. It was probably the loudest silence I've ever been through. It's like you wanted to say something, but Kelsey's distant expression and Dylan's narrowed eyes made it all too difficult for me.
We were approaching a house. The house was medium-sized, it seemed to stand out amongst the rest of the houses. It seemed warmed and inviting, just like the other houses connected to it. It seemed to go one by one, they looked the same. Though, something was different about that house. Something I couldn't name off the tip of my tounge.
"Whose is this place?" I asked Kelsey, she seemed to snap out of phaze when I asked her that. "A close friend's of mines, she'll be there too. I'll introduce you to her." She replied quickly, but it still seemed like she was in a daze. I didn't understand what was up with everyone tonight. I looked up at the sky, it was just plain black. There was never stars out in the city; it was such a shame. You had to drive out so far to get even a glimpse of a few stars. Though, when I saw one, I kind of felt like it was a star to wish on. It never did anything. All these supersistions; 11:11, birthday candles, shooting stars were never real. Though, we liked to believe they were. To have some hope that something out there can make our wishes come true; like they say, ignorance is bliss.
The statement "ignorance is bliss" always got me thinking. At first, I didn't really ever comprehend what it meant until I searched it on Google. I find it best to describe in example; say there's a couple. The girl's happily in love, she believes that there's no wrong, and everything is going perfectly well just like a fairytale book. In reality; the guy's cheating on her. He's only using a fake act, he's lying, he's not being faithful. Then comes in the saying, "ignorance is bliss." Is it really better to avoid the shuffle and let the poor girl think that everything's going on fine and dandy? Or is it better to tell her the truth, and break her down emotionally, but she knows the truth? It seems like it would be the better option to tell her the truth, but in despite of her feelings, the guy does not tell her. Like she does not derserve the truth. So he leaves her off, not knowing, going to her like everything's perfect. Therefore, ignorance is bliss.
Another example could be accidently flattening your father's signed football. What do you do? Do you tell the truth, and probably get in trouble? Or, do you get a replacement with the same signature and pretend like it never happened? Leaving the father having no idea you flattened his football, and him being sastified of his signed football? In reality, ignorance is bittersweet. The question is, would you prefer living life in blissful ignorance or a miserable reality? A question I'll never be able to answer, not now. Maybe later on, when I'm more wise. I'm still only a teenager, and to think I know everything about life is beyond ignorant. Maybe, one day, I'll get my answer to life in general. One mistake at a time.
"Come," Kelsey said as I followed her inside. I quickly shifted my eyes to see where Dylan was; he was nowhere to be found. Where did he go? I wondered, but I quickly shrugged it off as I headed inside the house with Kelsey. The house was filled with twenty to maybe thirty people. Everybody's voices seemed to surround the room, making it hard to hear what anybody was hearing without them screaming it in your face. Kelsey leaded me an empty couch, which I wasn't so content with. She told me just to wait and she'd be back soon. But the urge to use the washroom was taking over me, so I decided to go upstairs in their house and try and find the washroom.
I walked up the creaky, old wooden stairs, it was a small hallway. WIth two rooms on the left side, and one on the right side. I figured it'd be on the right side, I opened the door just to see an empty bedroom. I shut the door and tried the next one, nothing. When I finally found the washroom, I went inside and shut the door.
