The Story of Our Lives | A New Beginning (Completed & Editing)

~ Chapter 4 ~

I went to my room and got a change of clothes on. I set my homework on my desk and got to work. While I was reading I heard the front door slam shut, so I scrambled up and ran to the window, I saw Clarisse leaving in the cold rain, she was definitely unhappy. I ran downstairs to my mother and what I saw next was new. She was in the kitchen preparing dinner.

"Mom! What happened? Why are you-?" I pointed at her standing, even though she had a cane I was amazed. "Mom, I thought you couldn't stand..... the MS and the Diabetes...."
"Well Mack I went to the doctor and we found out that I was getting a lot better, they gave me a cane so I can walk." The oven timer went off and she opened the oven, taking out some fries and pizza. "Ready to eat MK?"
I gave her a hug and helped her bring the food and drinks over. "Wow." We ate in silence when suddenly I got a text from an unknown number. "Oh... must be someone from school." I said under my breath.
"Who?" My mother wiped her mouth and looked at me.
"Oh, I just met a few people today, maybe it's my teacher, or a friend." I looked at the text and I realized it was Zac. "It's a text from Zac, I met him today." I looked up and I saw a worried look in my mother's eyes. "Are you okay mom?"
"I'm fine, but your brother isn't." She got up and showed me a picture. My eyes opened wide.
"No! This can't- No!" I got up quickly, and ran to my room. I got some better clothes for the weather and got ready to leave. "Mom, I'll be back. Don't worry." I put my jacket and my shoes on. I ran outside to my bike and I left.

I hurried to a hospital, I parked my bike and ran inside. I went to the front desk and waited in line.
"Next." said the lady at the front desk.
I rushed to the desk. "Um, Hi, my name is Mackenzie Lawrence, I'm here because my brother is is in this hospital."
She looked over the list. "Ah, yes, he's on floor 3, room 127." She pointed at the elevator.
"Thank you very much!" I rushed to the elevator but I also saw stairs, I made a decision to go on the stairs because it's faster. I ran up the stairs and finally I got to floor 3, I walked down the hall and found room 127 and I knocked on the door.
