"I've been standing at the edge of the water
'Long as I can remember, never really knowing why
I wish I could be the perfect daughter
But I come back to the water, no matter how hard I tryEvery turn I take, every trail I track
Every path I make, every road leads back
To the place I know, where I can not go
Though I long to be"
"Ugh, I'm up," I hit the alarm, but I realized it wasn't there. I got up and looked around. Looks like Justin barged into my room.
It was my phone ringing. It was someone calling, an unknown number. I picked up and pressed accept.
"Hi, Mack here."
"Hey, it's me, Adam Lynn,"
"Um..."
"Mack?"
"Oh right! you're the guy I bumped into in class right?"
"Yeah."
"How do you have my number?"
"Mr. Johnson told me to keep in touch. He said you might need a friend."
"Oh, well why don't you come with me to school? Didn't you say you saw me going to school once?"
"Yeah, I did. Meet you at your house in an hour?"
"Sure,"
"Bye,"
"See ya later."
I hung up and got my clothes, at least he didn't trash that. I headed to my bathroom and closed the door. Turning on the lights, I looked at the wall with some of my pictures of friends, family, and art I've done framed on the wall. I hung my clothes for school on the steel rod and took a look in the mirror. I took off my clothes and got in the shower. I quickly showered and washed my hair. I got out and wrapped a towel around myself and started to wring out my hair.
I got my clothes on and brushed my teeth and I put just a touch of makeup on. I got out and got my clothes hung and started to pack my things when I noticed it was quite quiet in the house. I went downstairs to see everything was messed up, except a few things.
I went to the fridge, and I was happy to see he left me some food. I grabbed an apple and a sandwich and put it in my lunch kit. I grabbed my water bottle and put it in my backpack. I looked around, but no Justin. I had 15 minutes before Adam got here. I put on my light blue converse and walked out the door with my bag hanging by my side. It got a bit cold so I went inside to get my jean jacket. I put it on top of my light blue checkered shirt, and I had ripped jeans on.
I checked my phone and I got a message from Adam.
'Hey, I'm there in a bit, give me about 3 mins.'
'Okay,' I replied back.
I sat down on the steps and started to look through my pictures on my phone. I heard running and I looked up. I think it was Adam.
"Hi, Mack,"
"Hello," I got up from the porch and put my phone in my pocket.
"Ready for school?"
"Yep." I walked off the porch and we walked to school. "So you live around here?"
"Yeah, I do." He said.
"Cool," I looked down and kicked a rock to the grass.
"Are you okay?" Adam asked.
"Yes, I'm... I'm fine," I said quietly.
"Okay," He replied.
We walked silently to the curb and turned, the school was just in sight. I saw cars pass by and bikes on the side of the road. I thought I saw a familiar face in one, it looked like... Jason.
