"Hi Miss Lawrence. I hope you are enjoying yourself." Mr. Johnson said when I walked in. "I am enjoying it here." I tried my best to smile, and I think Mr. Johnson noticed that I was trying too hard. The expression on his face changed and I looked around awkwardly and then I sat down.

Today we were learning about ourselves again. I'd been so busy yesterday, that I forgot about the assignment. I did decided what kind of stuff I had wanted to do, I just didn't do anything yet. The class got to work after Mr. Johnson stopped talking, everyone, but me.

Mr. Johnson pulled me over and brought me outside, to the hallway. "Mack, is there something going on?" I looked at him and he looked at me. I didn't know if I could tell him anything. He's only my teacher, and I just met him yesterday, but then again, he was my teacher.

"Nothing really Mr. Johnson." His eyebrows raised. "Really?" My eyes darted to the side and then back at him. "Fine, lots of things have been going on." He nodded like he knew. "What happened?" I sighed, but I continued. "Um, my mom... she has gone." His expression soften and I continued. "My dad... he came back. My brother got hurt a little, but he's better." Mr. Johnson looked at me and then he spoke. "So... you are now left with your brother only, because your father is... not part of your family currently, and your mother... has left?" I looked at him and then down the hall I could see Zac. "Yes." Mr. Johnson looked back and saw Zac. "Mr. Johnson, what are you doing here?" My eyes opened wide, I didn't know they were related... or were they? "Oh, I was just going to my locker Mr. Johnson." He headed to his locker and stared at us while he was opening it.

"I hope you will be okay Miss. Lawrence." I smiled. "I'll be fine Mr. Johnson." He leaned on the lockers beside us. "Can I meet your brother sometime soon?" I nodded. "How about after school? I think he's going to take me home instead of me walking home." He smiled at me and then he looked at Zac. "Mr. Johnson, you're taking quite awhile for this." Zac closed his locker. "Sorry." He walked back into the class and he turned back to me. "Many friends?" I shook my head. "Not that many." He nodded knowingly. "Who then?" I looked down. "Zac." He smiled. "Ah, good, I know he's going to make sure you'll be okay." I looked up and he looked back at the classroom, and I don't know but I think I saw Zac with a big smile on his face.
