--------- later at lunch ----------

I was sitting alone in the courtyard, by the fountain. I heard footsteps and I knew it was Zac, but I didn't dare look back. "Mack? It's me, Zac." I kept looking down at the water in the fountain. "Hi." I could see his reflections in the water, he was looking at me. I kept staring at his eyes in the reflection and he must've noticed because him look at my eyes in the reflection. He smiled. I didn't do anything but inside I was smiling.

"Is there anyone sitting with you?" I kept looking at the water. "No." I could see him smiling and I could feel him coming closer. My first instinct was to slap him away, but I kept my hand down. He sat beside me and set aside his bag. "I'm sorry Mack." I finally looked up. "for what?" He looked at me. "If I did anything wrong." I smiled. "You've done nothing wrong" He looked at me and I looked at him. "Are you sure?" I nodded. "I'm sure" He looked away and at the door. I turned my head to the front door and I could see Mr. Johnson there leaning on the wall staring at Zac. "Is... your dad..." Zac turned to me "Yes Mr. Johnson is my dad."

I got up and walked to the front door I leaned on the wall beside Mr. Johnson. "You have a wonderful son." He looked at me and smiled. "Thank you Mack. You are a wonderful girl." I looked at Zac and he seemed shocked, probably because I dared to do this. "Mack, your... father and mother, if they aren't with you, who is going to take care of you?" I forgot about that. "My father, he's at my house, I don't know what he's doing but he's there." I looked up at him. "Well, how about your brother?" I thought for a second. "He does school at home, because it's harder for him to learn at school. So he'll watch over my father and he'll be fine."

He nodded and I looked at my watch. The bell was about to ring.

*ding ding ding* There it was.
