*****Kendal*****
I kissed him, then we started to make-out. Kyle ran his hands down my sides. I ran mine through his hair. He stopped and pulled back.
"I have to tell you something." He said.
"Yeah?"
He looked at me silently.
"What is it?"
"I love you, Kendal."
"I love you too."
I could tell there was more, but he was hesitant.
"Baby, you can tell me any..."
"I got into Mercer, and I really want to say yes."
I stopped, and looked at him.
"Congratulations!"
That hurt like a ton of bricks.
"Do you really want to go? Or are you coming to West Georgia?"
He took a deep breath, and looked me dead in the eyes.
*****
*****Kate*****
"He's freaking going to go with us to West Georgia."
      I looked at her weird.
     "So, you're not happy..."
"No, yes, I don't know." She said sitting on my bed, "I love him, and I want him to be with me, but Mercer is his dream."
"Kendal, so are you."
That made her stop.
"What?"
"You are the love of that boy's life, and he is the love of your life. Just let him choose."
"But he will not be happy settling for second best."
"Just talk it out with him. That you can do."
She gave me a hug.
"Thank you." She said, "I needed that."
I smiled and moved back.
     "Now, let's go find food."
*****
Kendal was looking up at my ceiling. I knew that she wanted to go to sleep, but she couldn't. She was too preoccupied with Kyle. And when she can't sleep I can't sleep.
     "Just call him."
I didn't have to tell her twice. She reached for her phone on her bedside table and called him. He picked up on the third ring.
"Hello, Kendal."
Yes, it was on speaker.
"Hey, how are you?"
"Studying for a test."
I looked at what time it was.
"Bull. I call bull." I called into the phone, "You don't study, and especially not at 2 a.m."
"Ha, ha, you got me." He said dryly, "did you need something?"
Kendal looked at me evilly. I always could turn Kyle's mood bad. Even when I wasn't trying to.
"I want you to know that if you go to Mercer then we can make long distance work."
"It's too late."
"Technically it's early..."
Kendal looked at me again.
"Not now."
I nodded my head, and just laid back down on the bed.
"No, like I have already said yes to West Georgia and no to Mercer."
There was a chilling silence.
"Kendal."
"Why? Why would you go with me and not to your dream school?"
"Because I love you, and I will do anything to be there for you."
"Kyle."
"Yeah?"
"Thank you for doing that. I know it was hard for you to do that."
I knew he was smiling on the other end.
"Good night."
"Night."
It's morning.
