The abstract was finished within the week and the client loved it, she sobbed so much, it was wholesome and sad.

Hearing how brilliant her mother was made me want to see mine. I decided to visit her.

I ventured to Broward, the drive took near an hour, a bit too much for me, but it was worth it, the lambo was screaming.

I made it to Odesa's house, that was my mother's name, the house still looked the same and not an item was altered. I haven't been home in months. I moved down south because it's where I wanted to start a career, where I wanted to live. It was less lonesome.

I knocked on the door and waited. Odesa lived with her husband, Clive, and had two kids in total. Asaad and I. His surname was Owens, mine was Dasalan. Clive wasn't our father.

The door unbolted, Odesa stood there, orbs widened in shock. "Darling!"

"Hi, mom." I smiled. Odesa reeled me into her arms. "You love inflicting heart attacks."

Odesa invited me in, we sat in the living room. "Clive's out fishing, he wants to catch a redfish for me, he's like a cat sometimes."

"You two are still romantic." I said. "Our romance never died." Odesa stated, I felt those words. "I love that. I do."

Odesa smiled. "You want water or soda?"

"I'm fine with water."

Odesa went into the kitchen, came back with water, and sat with me. "You've been doing well?" Odesa asked.

I drank some water. "Of course, the business has been tremendous, I love what I do."

Odesa bobbed. "And..."

"And what?" I asked, confused. "You aren't having kids?"

I was stunned, where'd that come from?

"Yes... but now isn't the time." I answered. "Asaad will be a father." Odesa revealed.

"Ew." I blurted, that startled me. He had sex?

Odesa raised a brow. "You should be more contented."

"I know, that was rude." I muttered, feeling at fault. Odesa rolled her orbs. "He's having a daughter and he'll also be a married man."

I must live under a rock, no one said a word to me about this.

"I didn't know." I said. "You didn't?" Odesa was muddled. "Your father didn't...?"

"No, ma'am." I answered.

His name was Martin Owens, he was a chief financial officer and an affluent businessman. He offered me cash to obtain the art studio, it was the final item he bestowed me.

The man was done.

"And not even Asaad?" Odesa asked. "No, ma'am." I answered once more, exhaling.

Asaad visited Dubai as an intern when he was nineteen, he fell in love with the ambience, and wanted to continue his life there. He was back and forth for months, now it's his home.

"Gosh, I should hit them both. You shouldn't be left out, the invitation arrived last week."

It's clear I must not exist.

"These men are terrible." Odesa added. "I can't even attend, motion sickness for fifteen hours is awful, I'll wish him all the best." Odesa noted.

"Aw." I held her hand. "It's ok, unfortunate."

Odesa nodded. "Your father's funding the service, it's Asaad's last share from him."

"I need to have a word with dad." I said. "You can have the invitation, additions are allowed, so take whomever. I'm sure it'll be fine." Odesa smiled. "I'll let Asaad know."

I nodded. "...thanks, it mean's a'lot."

"You're welcome, dear." Odesa kissed me on the head. I embraced her.

I'm crashing this wedding, how dare he not invite me, his own flesh and blood, our childhood was memorable. Our bond was ruined the moment he left for Dubai.
