PART TWO — TRIALS

I was taken to the station, and as I was escorted to the door, Pablo came out. He looked me in the orbs and scowled. His orbs were red and watering... shit.

I was seated in a chair. "Do not move or I will use force." I was told. I nodded and exhaled, I looked around the station at all the officers.

It's ironic, isn't it? The one thing I wanted Quinn and Daisee to avoid, I earned.

I was taken to a dark room and handcuffed to the table, an officer came in and stared at me.

He sat and showed me a tablet... there was a recording of the shooting... a house from across the street saw it all.

I knew I was more fucked. I couldn't even lie... the truth was all there.

Bail was two hundred and fifty thousand, I had at least six hundred thousand in the bank, I was setback.

I was held in a cell until further notice and was offered bread and water to consume. I was allowed three calls and the first call went to Tahiri. I remembered her number well.

Tahiri answered the call. "Hello?"

"Hi, babe, it's me." I said. "I'm in some tuff shit... I was arrested."

"I don't understand, for what reason?" Tahiri asked, she sounded so baffled.

"I haven't been honest... I murdered the men who robbed me." I confessed to her. "...there was a tussle between us... and it occurred."

The line was silent.

"Tahiri?" I called out. I heard her sniffing, she was in tears. "You —" she exhaled. "You couldn't let — the officers handle it?"

"I was stubborn... it was self defense." I told her about Daisee, she understood, but was still irresolute, this was all on me.

"I'm coming to the station." Tahiri said. "You can't. I'm not allowed visitors." I told her. "But, I'll be released tomorrow, I'm out on bail and set for trial next month."

"Oh, hell, babe." Tahiri started to sob. "This is so..." she couldn't finish her sentence.

"I know." I exhaled. "I'll ask Martin for a lawyer, we'll need a decent one." Tahiri told me.

The restaurant commenced service, I needed to earn the cash back, but I wasn't there to maintain. Ben, Devin, and Naomi held down.

Tahiri and I met with a criminal defense lawyer. Her name was Quiara and she was excellent.

Daisee was tracked and held in court with me, she had to voice her reasons and I had to voice mine, she lied a little but that's on her. I stated the truth. I didn't want to fall further.

Pablo testified as a witness, the house across the street was his, and he wasn't even there when the murders occurred but came to Daisee's defense, blaring a'lot of bullshit because his friends were dead. A bunch of delusional folks were on the stand. I had mothers screaming at me.

Quiara battled so hard, she deserved one hundred humanitarian awards, it was ridiculous how all of this occurred because I refused to date that insane bitch, even Judge Jones found it to be trivial madness.

But still, I committed murder... and a decision was made. I was convicted to twenty years for voluntary manslaughter, but if I desired to avoid this, there was a fine for two hundred thousand dollars. I was being milked, but I wanted out.

Daisee was incarcerated for criminal solicitation, she was unable to fund her fine, and had two years behind bars.

I was a killer who acted in self defense and the case was settled.

An officer escorted me out. Tahiri was on the sidewalk. I ran over to her and she extended her arms. I lifted and whirled her in the air.

I was free.
