June's point of view

I spent the whole day at the hospital, holding Pit's hand and telling him random things, hoping deep down that he'd wake up soon and tell me to shut up. But it didn't happen. He didn't move a muscle, nor did he show any sign that he'd wake up. He was breathing-well, barely, because the machine helped him breathe, and this is all that could be heard when I was silent: the noise and bip of the machine that stood just beside him.

Nurses came to check up on him every hour, and I'd ask them if something changed, but it stayed the same. He was in a coma, and nobody could tell if he would wake up one day or not. Some of them told me not to give up, while some others told me to prepare myself to the worst, so that I don't toally lose if if Pit doesn't make it. Thing is, it was impossible and unbearable to me to think I could live in a world where Pit didn't exist anymore. There was no way this huge, strong guy doesn't fight for his life and come back to us. I wasn't giving up on him now.

Callie came back in the evening, and she came back with Ellen, Pit's mother who lives in Ohio. I only met her once in my life, and that was on Pit's birthday two years ago. The relationship he had with his mother was somehow complicated, but he loves her to pieces. Of course, as a mother, Ellen never approuved of her son's job because it was too dangerous for her taste. Pit's father died in the army when he was only seventeen, and ever since that day, his mother tried her best to keep her son safe.

I looked at the clock on the wall, and noticed it was already eight in the evening. I wanted to stay at the hospital in case Pit woke up, but I had my fiancé waiting for me home, and I knew Pit was well surrounded by people who love him as much as I do, or even more.

"You better be awake tomorrow morning when I come to see your ass," I whispered to Pit, and laid a kiss on his forehead. "I love you, buddy."

I squeezed his hand a little and turned to Callie and Ellen who were seated on the couch beside Pit's bed. "I got to go now. Michael is probably worried by now, as I've been gone since six this morning," I explained, then gave a hug to the both of them with my free arm.

"Have a safe trip back home," Callie told me before breaking our embrace.

"Don't worry, I'm not the one driving," I reassured her, giving her a faint smile. "Call me if anything changes?"

"Sure," she nodded, giving me a smile as well.

"If my son doesn't wake up after all the threats and everything you told him, then I don't get it," Ellen slightly joked, and I looked down with a faint smile. "You're a good friend to my baby, June. You've always been there for him."

A good friend wouldn't have caused this.

"And I will always be here," I nodded a bit, putting my thoughts aside. "He's going to wake up," I said, trying to believe my own words. "He needs to," I muttered before sighing heavily. "Have a good night."
