Chapter 9- Jeremy and Sophie

It was late, the sound of the crickets and the cuckoos of the owls became significant on the dead silence of the woods. Everyone is asleep, except Sophie, wearing her pajamas. Between her and Jeremy was a pillow. Sophie wanted to say sorry to Jeremy, the thing that she doesn't know is that Jeremy himself is awake and wants to do the same. Sophie got up and grabbed the daisies which Jeremy gave her earlier and her pink sweater, and she went outside their tent. She found the bonfire which was still burning. She sat on one of the logs and faced the fire, and grabbed one of the flowers. And she began plucking the flowers petal. The dim and golden glow of the fire shone on Sophie's face as she plucked the petals. After a few minuts , Sophie already turned 2 daisies bald. She grabbed another daisy.

" He loves me not "  Sophie sighed as she plucked the final petal.

Sophie threw the useless flower into the scorching mouth of the bonfire, it crunched lightly as it devoured the flower. Then a twig broke behind her and made Sophie jerk her head, she saw Jeremy wearing his brown sweater, plain white shirt, and shorts.

" So, how many flowers did you waste? " Jeremy asked.

" Not that much " Sophie answered with that faint smile.

Jeremy sat beside Sophie.

" Look sorry for earlier- " Hey both said and stopped at the same time.

" You first " Jeremy said with that shy tone.

" Look, sorry for saying those things earlier about your guitar " Sophie apologized.

" A mistake on my part also, I took it personally " Jeremy added.

" So, we're good? " Sophie asked.

" Yeah " Jeremy answered.

Both of them wanted to confess their feelings for each other. But all they did was stay silent and look at the fire. Then Jeremy opened up a new conversation.

" Why are you still awake by the way? " Jeremy asked.

Sophie grabbed another daisy and faced Jeremy.

" I should be the one to ask that right? " Sophie asked while giving that cute cosplaying look.

Jeremy slowly gulped the feeling on his throat, he could barely look at Sophie. He grabbed a stick from the ground and pretended to play with it as a reason for looking away from Sophie.

" Well, uhmm, I noticed you getting up and I took the chance to apologize " Jeremy explained.

Sophie knew that Jeremy was looking away from her. She simply noded and started to plick the petals of the flower with a different petal pattern.

" He loves me not " Sophie sighed as she plucked the final petal.

" Hey you're doing it all wrong " Jeremy told Sophie.

Sophie faced Jeremy while frowning. Sophie doesn't want to be taught , ever in her life, well except when it comes to her education. Anyways, yeah being taught reminds her about her father that left her and her mother to live alone.

" Don't teach me! I know what I'm doing! " Sophie replied with a higher tone.

" Shhh, you'll wake up the others. But changing the petal pattern won't help, if you continue to then you'll suck at that until morning comes " Jeremy explain.

" Oh shut the fuck up " Sophie said while inflating her cheeks with air and frowning as she threw the bald flower to the fire.

Jeremy grabbed a daisy and gave it to Sophie.

" Here hold this " Jeremy instructed.

" Okay " Sophie said like she had no choice.

Suddenly Jeremy help the hands of Sophie . Sophie herself blushed, she felt numb, strucked, shocked. She faced Jeremy who seemed to be talking.

" Hey! " Jeremy called the attention of Sophie.

" Yes? What? Oh, sorry " Sophie said lowly.

" As I said, start with " He loves me not " so that you can get the right answer on the last petal " Jeremy explained.

" Okay, now try it out " Jeremy added.

Jeremy removed his hold on Sophie's hands and Sophie herself began to pluck the petals of the flower.

" He loves me not, he loves me, he loves me not...  He loves me " Sophie recited.

Sophie's face formed a smile, a bright one. Then she faced Jeremy..

" So~ , who's that guy you thinking of? " Jeremy asked.

Sophie's eyes widened, surprised to hear Jeremy's question.

" Nobody- " Sophie answered hesitately.

Jeremy compressed the space between them.

" Nobody special huh? " Jeremy pushed the question.

Sophiegrabbed the last daisy. Jeremy got bored of waiting for Sophie's answer and decided to play with the stick he picked earlier.

" Nobody special, just someone amazing like you " Sophie said with a low voice.

" What was that again? " Jeremy asked.

Sophie faced Jeremy and giggled.

" Nothing~ " Sophie answered.

Sophie stood up.

" I'm going to sleep now " Sophie said.

" Okay, I'll sleep later " Jeremy answered.

Sophie walked a short distance and entered their tent and began to lay on the fluffy comforter blanket which served as their bed, holding the last daisy.

" Goodnight Sophie " Jeremy greeted Sophie.

" Night Jeremy " Sophie answered.

" Love you " they both said to themselves with a low voice.

All were quiet, and natures voice took over the silence of the night again.
