Chapter 20- Jeremy
It was night, Jeremy was standing on the sidewalk waiting for a cab to pas by. Jeremy got his phone from his pocket as it started to vibrate and ring. He saw Mrs. Beckens number, he answered it.
" Hello? " Jeremy asked.
" Jeremy? " Mrs. Beckens asked.
" Hi Mrs. Beckens, how's Sophie? " Jeremy asked.
" She's okay.. " Mrs. Beckens answered with a sad tone.
" Still in a coma huh? " Jeremy added a question.
" Yeah, anyways are you really visiting her? " Mrs. Beckens asked as she answered Jeremy's question.
" I'll just get a cab and go there Mrs. Beckens " Jeremy answered.
" Okay " Mrs Beckens answered.
She turned-off the phone. Jeremy returned his phone inside his pocket. He called a cab, as the cab stopped Jeremy popped the door open and got inside.
" Where to mate? " the driver asked.
" Cross Savior Hospital " Jeremy answered.
The cab began to move, streetlights passed as the taxi drove smoothly through the trip. Jeremy looked back on what happened to Sophie four days earlier.
" That was supposed to be me having a coma " Jeremy mumbled to himself.
" What was that mate? " the taxi driver heard him and asked.
" Oh nothing I was just singing " Jeremy lied to make a fake but valid reason.
" You know, I'm kinda gettin' the idea that yer' gal left ya' mate " the taxi driver said.
" Na, it's just- . I did something that hurt her " Jeremy explained.
" Oh okay, what happened to ya gal? " the driver asked.
" She's in a coma " Jeremy said as his face darkened.
The driver hit the brakes hard.
" What the-. "
" Okay we're here " the driver interrupted Jeremy with a deppresed tone.
" How much will I pay? " Jeremy asked.
" Just promise me to take care of my daughter " the driver said.
" Uhh, okay sure whatever " Jeremy replied confusingly.
Jeremy opened the door and got out. He stared at the driver, and he saw Sophie's father. The taxi left and drove farther and farther, slowly disappearing in Jeremy sight. Jeremy walked towards the hospital's glass door. And he made his way towards Sophie's room. As he arrived, he held the door knob. Slowly twisting the cold and round knob. He entered and found Sophie's mother crying and Sophie herself, wide awake but has that confused expression on her face.
" Sophie- " Jeremy whispered Sophie's name silently.
Sophie faced Jeremy, giving him that confused look.
" Who are you? " Sophie asked.
Jeremy felt his chest had a hole, numbness overtook. He fell down his knees, hope lost. Sophie had a amnesia and her doctor explained that she may never get hr memories back. The chances of her memory to come back is slim. Silence dominated that night, it's like Sophie just died infront of Jeremy. Tears dripped on the tiled floor.
