My song was due soon. 1 month to be exact. Almost everyone was ready, except me. Sure I had the entire tune and rhythm played out, it's just the damn lyrics.
I was busy fiddling with the flute and getting the harmonies for the song. It would usually be a lot easier if I had words. Of course I have some words but they're mostly jumbled up together.
The bell rang as I was writing down the notes. I packed up all my things and headed off to my next class.
I met up with Alec who seemed to have ditched his dancing class; he's a hip hop/break dancer.
"Why'd you skip?" I asked.
"I had some businesses to attend too. Could you skip fourth and meet us at your penthouse?" he asked.
"We as in Vivian, Nate and you?" I asked.
"Yes babe, see you soon," he said and pecked my lips. He walked away through the halls making sure everyone made a pathway for him.
"My my you have one fine guy," a girl I didn't know said.
"Thanks, hands off. As you said I have one fine guy," I snapped.
"We'll see," she said and walked away.
I stared at her and started to let my insecurities set in.
"Oh gosh that's Leslie Steels," Vivian's voice came behind me.
"Who?" I questioned.
"Alec's ex?" Vi said.
"Ah the needy," I said and looked down. Was I going to turn out like her? She was definitely pretty, and she sure wasn't wearing a lot of make up like me. Why would he end off things with her? I mean she sounded a little stuck up but aren't I?
"Hey!" Vivian snapped in my face. "Stop thinking!" she said.
"What?" I asked.
"I could see the confidence drain from your face the minute you looked down and bit your lip! You're better than Leslie. She's a bitch and you're not."
"I'd beg to differ, I was a little bitchy at her," I said.
"Good! It'll teach her a lesson," she said with disgust.
I shrugged off the subject and left Vivian to head off to my next class. Wasn't she supposed to stay with Nate at the dorm and talk? Or make out? Or have sex? I give her the perfect opportunity to do whatever they please and they don't take it for granted?
I walked into Modelling class and made my way to the runway to practice for the fashion show. We could choose whether we wanted to star in the show or showcase our clothes. I chose to star, Vivian chose to showcase. Perfect match!
Throughout the whole period all we did was strut down the runway and learn about lighting. I had no idea the lighting cast was so important!
By third period I was getting anxious to go back to the dorm. I hadn't seen Vivian in any of my classes and at lunch I sat alone outside. I had no idea where anybody was and I was too lazy to go back to the penthouse to check on them. My cell was dead so that didn't help either.
Fashion Designing class went by in a blur with Mrs. Jaqueline teaching us new sewing techniques. I used them on some of my pieces and I have to say they were useful. Who knows? Maybe I'll become a famous fashion designer when I grow up!
The bell rang for fourth period and I was out the door first. I ran threw the hallways to meet up with my friends in the dorm. I impatiently waited in the elevator groaning at each floor. Finally, I reached my floor and entered my penthouse.
"HOME!" I screamed and went to my room. To my surprise, Alec, Vivian, and Nate were all sitting on my bed.
"Well hello there," I said and dropped my bag on the floor. "What is so important you gotta tell me now?" I asked.
"Come here babe," Alec said. I did as I was told and sat next to Alec to tease him. He rolled his eyes and picked me up easily and placed me on his lap. "Much better. First things first, I heard you met Leslie."
"Leslie?" I acted dumb. "Who's Leslie?"
"Cut the crap." Alec said.
"No really who's Leslie?" I asked and went on with my act.
"You know his ex?" Vivian said. "The one you compared yourself to?" I glared at Vivian and looked down and bit my lip. "Exactly! Like that!"
"You compared yourself to her? Why?" Alec asked.
"It's nothing," I said.
"Obviously it's something," Alec pushed.
"It's nothing," I said once again.
"Babe, come on!"
"Really! It's nothing!"
"Okay we both know that's not true."
"It doesn't matter."
"Yes it does!"
"It doesn't! It's whatever."
"OK MELODY ALEXIA PEERS JUST TELL US WHY YOU COMPARED YOURSELF TO THAT WHORE!" Vivian screamed. I looked at her with a blank expression and turned to Nate.
"Hey I'm with my girl on this one," he said in defense.
"Oh my god you two are dating now?" I squealed and looked up at them.
"That's not the point," Nate said. He then touched Vi's chin and turned her head to face him. "But yes," and planted a kiss on her lips.
"That's great! I am so good at matchmaking!" I stalled. "I should have my own business! Maybe I'm the next cupid or-"
"Melody!" they all yelled. I sighed and looked down again.
"I-I don't know. It's just I saw her and, and, at first it was fine, I was fine. But then Vivian told me who she was and, and I actually took in her appearance and she was beautiful! And she doesn't wear the clothes I wear, and-" I was cut off.
"What makes you think I want that?" Alec asked.
"You wanted her before, it's so easy to go back," I said sadly.
"But I don't want to. She broke my trust and I like you now, not her. I've liked you for a while," he said; I could see the smirk planted on his face through the strands of hair that covered my face.
"Yeah but," I looked up. "She's so pretty-" I was cut off by him kissing me. He didn't let go until I finally kissed back. "And so are you," he whispered. I blushed and turned my head so he kissed my cheek. "Don't tease me Pepper."
I giggled and looked at him once again. "And don't compare yourself to someone who doesn't deserve your time." I nodded and took a deep breath.
"Right, on that note, what is this meeting really for?" I asked.
"Ah, you're gonna like it," Nate said. I raised an eyebrow and looked at Vivian who was smirking.
"We're going on vacation for two weeks," Alec said.
"And guess where we're going," Vivian said.
"I don't know, where?" I asked. They all looked at each other and beamed with delight.
"San Fransisco, California baby!"
