Chapter 13
Rory: 9 Weeks
Lorelai: 8 WeeksIt was the Tuesday after meeting April and Rory had gone to Logan's apartment for the rest of the week.
The previous day, Luke had accompanied her to her eight week appointment and everything was exceptionally good for a geriatric mother like herself. However, she was in an extremely vulnerable mood and almost anything was viable of upsetting her.
Due to the fact she had promised Sookie she would be in today for sure, she attempted to pull herself together and make her presence known at The Dragonfly Inn."Ghostie has returned, I see." Michel muttered under his breath as soon as she stepped through the door.
"Good morning to you too Michel." Lorelai said irritably before walking into the kitchen and downing a cup of coffee.
"Hey!"
"Caught in the act..." Lorelai said to herself.
"Luke is going to kill me!" Sookie screeched in despair.
"Luke doesn't have to be informed." Lorelai responded whilst gulping down some more of the fully caffeinated beverage she had been deprived from for the past 6 weeks.
"Give me that! He'll know!" Sookie yelled as she grabbed the cup off her insanely craft best friend.
"How on earth would he know unless you snitch?" Lorelai questioned her.
"Luke Danes calls The Dragonfly Inn at least twice a day to make sure you're getting your proper dietary needs and being kept off this!" Sookie yelled, gesturing to the cup.
"He calls?" Lorelai said, feeling touched.
"Of course he calls! He loves you... and them." Sookie replied, lowering her voice to a mellow whisper.
By this point, Lorelai was reduced to tears and couldn't stop them whatsoever.
"You okay hon?" Sookie asked, ushering her to the closest chair within proximity of the kitchen.
"Yeah," Lorelai said with a chuckle and started wiping her eyes. "Just extremely hormonal today." Lorelai justified and then began laughing again.
Sookie then began laughing which consequently ended in the two of them having an uncontrollable laughing fit.
"Something funny?" Michel said as he swooshed into the kitchen.
"Nothing..Michel." Sookie responded between laughs.
"Lorelai can you co..."
Lorelai suddenly felt the coffee regurgitate in the pit of her stomach and suddenly ran for the bathroom, followed along by Sookie, whilst Michel stood astounded and displeased.
"Maybe coffee wasn't such a good idea after all..." Lorelai said to Sookie after she was assured it was over for the time being.
"I'm sure Luke would love to hear you say that!" Sookie said enthusiastically, gaining a short giggle from Lorelai. For the most part of the day, Lorelai continued to be violently ill. At around four o'clock, Lorelai walked into the kitchen and sat on a stool.
"You okay sweetie?" Sookie questioned her sympathetically.
"Whoever called this 'morning sickness' was obviously never pregnant." Lorelai replied nonchalantly.
"Take the rest of the day off; the staff already overseeing the duties of the inn today will suffice." Sookie offered, which Lorelai took up on.
Lorelai grabbed her bag and coat and began to walk in the direction of Luke's. In all honesty, she didn't want to face being alone for the rest of the day, so she figured that she would go upstairs to the apartment instead.
"Hey." Lorelai said tiredly as she walked into the diner.
"Hey, what's up?" Luke asked her, rushing to comfort her.
"Morning sickness." She replied as she buried her head into his checked shirt.
"Go upstairs and I'll be up in a minute." Luke said, kissing her on the head softly and then parting ways.Lorelai took off her coat and reached for her cell at the top of her bag and hit speed dial on Rory's number.
"Hey Mom." Rory said as she answered the phone.
"Hey sweets, how are you kid?" Lorelai asked inquisitively.
"I'm okay, what's up?" Rory asked her.
"Nothing much, just not too good today." Lorelai responded sadly.
"Do you want me to come back?" Rory asked almost instantly.
"No hon, Luke will take good care of me." Lorelai replied as soon as he opened the apartment door.
"As long as you're sure." Rory said worriedly.
"I'm positive sweet pea! I just wanted to check in on you and see how you're doing." Lorelai said with a caring voice.
"I'm doing good Mom. Logan's here talking about baby names already, he's obviously got a baby brain." Rory said as Lorelai laughed.
"Wow, you do know how to brighten up my day sweets!" Lorelai responded with enthusiasm.
"I do try!" Rory replied jokingly.
"Alright, I best be going. Speak to you soon!" Lorelai said before she clicked off and threw her shoes off before climbing in under the covers.Luke sat beside her as she snuggled into his t-shirt yet again.
"I told Caesar to take on my shift for me." Luke said as he rubbed her shoulder soothingly.
"You didn't need to do that." She said scoldingly.
"I wanted to do that!" He responded, not willing to take any nonsense from her.
"Well that's okay then." Lorelai chuckled.
"It certainly is." Luke agreed as he kissed hugged her closer.
"Luuuke..." Lorelai said, sounding as if she needed a favour.
"Hmm?" He replied lethargically.
"Can we brainstorm baby names?" She asked seriously.
"Wow, erm okay." Luke replied, now fully
awake.
"Well, we are aware there will be two of them, that's a start at least." Lorelai said jestingly.
"Okay, so let's start with girl names; any ideas?" Luke questioned.
"There's a few sloshing around up there." Lorelai replied.
"Such as?"
"Such as Lorelai IV!" Lorelai joked, which seemed to annoy Luke.
"Okay, okay! I have four names in particular for a girl."
"Which are?" Luke said, impatiently waiting.
"Maisie, Scarlett, Grace and Ava; because who doesn't love a touch of Ava Gardener!" Lorelai said happily.
They conferred for a while and finally decided their favourite two names before going onto boys names.
"Well obviously, for boys, Luke Jr has to be thrown into the mix!" Lorelai said ecstatically.
"You can damn well take it back out of the mix!" Luke responded rather shocked.
"Hey, I can't be held responsible if I accidentally name a child Luke Jr if I'm high on demoral!" Lorelai responded facetiously.
"Have you got any agreeable names floating around up there also?" He asked her as her took a strand of her and pushed it back behind her ear.
"Well, the four I find promising are Joseph, Mason, Noah and... William." Lorelai brainstormed, hoping he rather liked the fact that she highly considered using his deceased father's name.
"William huh?" Luke pondered for a moment.
"I thought it would be a nice tribute to him if one of our little angels could possibly be in memory of him." Lorelai replied, stroking his arm. After a long pause, Luke finally responded to her heartfelt words.
"I love you Lorelai Victoria Gilmore." Luke said before kissing her passionately on the lips.
"And I love you Lucas William Danes." Lorelai said before kissing him again. That evening, they both drifted into a deep sleep with Luke's hand rested on her stomach and didn't wake until the sun began to rise the next morning.
Hey! I'm not too well at the moment but I enjoy writing Gilmore Girls fanfics and being off gave me some time to write. I guess you're going to have to wait until the twins are born to find out their names but be sure to comment down below which names you prefer as I'm extremely indecisive! Thank you for reading fellow Gilmorians!☕️
