Chapter 4

It had been a couple of days since the argument with Luke and everything had blown over. Lorelai had been getting sicker by the day, but nothing unusual for a pregnant woman.
"Hey." Lorelai said as she opened Rory's bedroom door. "You okay? We have bacon." She continued enticingly.
"Hey mom, I'm not feeling too good." Rory replied in a lethargic tone.
"What's wrong hon?" Lorelai questioned as she walked in and sat on the end of her bed.
"I think I might have a stomach bug, I'm just a bit under the weather." Rory stated. "I don't want to get you sick, I'll be fine."
"Okay, but if you need anything, I mean anything, just call for me okay?" Lorelai responded sternly.
"I got ya." Rory joked as her mother walked out the room.
"Where's Rory?" Asked Luke.
"She's not feeling too good, there's a bug that's been going around so she probably caught that." Lorelai replied.
"Does she need anything?" Luke questioned.
"She'll be just fine." Lorelai replied with a smile. "Now you go off to work, you're already late!" She said as she shooed him out the door.
"I'm going, I'm going!" Luke joked as he gave his fiancé a quick kiss before rushing off to work.

Lorelai knocked on Rory's bedroom.
"Come in mom." Rory shouted.
"Hey, I've got to go and run some errands. Will you be alright on your own?" She asked empathetically.
"Yeah, Lane's coming over shortly to check on me so I'll be fine." She assured her mom.
"Okay, well I'm leaving now so just call my cell if you need anything." Lorelai told her daughter before shutting the door and grabbing her keys to the Jeep.

Lorelai walked around town with a list of things she needed to get but in the end, she got sidetracked by going to Luke's diner.
"Hey babe." Lorelai said as she leant over the counter and kissed him.
"Hey, how's Rory." Luke asked.
"Lane's with her now, I'm heading back early to check in on her." Lorelai replied. "Pour me some coffee and I'm a goner." She continued.
"Caesar! Get some decaf in here would you!" Luke barked.
"Yes boss." Caesar replied whilst quickly pouring it in a cup to go and handing it to Lorelai.
"Couldn't you have given my regular coffee just this once!" Lorelai exclaimed before setting off home.

Lorelai reached for her keys beyond the many bags she was carrying and opened the rusty front door. Lorelai placed her bags on the kitchen table and could just about hear a muffled cry coming from inside Rory's room.
"Rory?" Lorelai said as she knocked on the door and opened it slightly. "Can I come in?" She asked.
"Um, yeah." Rory replied as she wiped away her tears and try to calm herself down.
"Hey Lane." Lorelai said as she noticed her lurking in the corner.
"Hey Lorelai." Lane replied quietly. "I'll give you two your privacy." She said as she left the house.

"What's with you recently?" Lorelai asked her daughter whilst sitting up next to her.
"When you said I could tell you anything, what did you mean by that?" Rory blubbered.
"I meant you could tell me anything and I'll be there for you no matter what it is." Lorelai stated sternly as she put her arms around her daughter.
"Anything?" Rory quizzed, as she began to cry into her mothers shoulder.
"Anything!" Lorelai said exuberantly.
Rory took a deep breath, reached her hand into her draw and picked up something to show her mother.
"What is this?" Lorelai asked with the most panicked tone, knowing exactly what it was.
"Erm-" Rory started.
"Ignore that, I know exactly what it is." Lorelai interrupted.
"Mom, I didn't-" Rory tried to say again.
"How long have you known?" Lorelai interrupted yet again.
"I've only just found out! When I told Lane about how I'd been feeling, she brought over a pregnancy test." Rory exclaimed, becoming more anxious by the syllable.
"I didn't want you to end up like me Rory. I wanted more for you!" Lorelai yelled as she began to get herself worked up.
"I know! I didn't plan to have a kid until I was at least 30!" Rory shouted back at her mother as she began to get defensive.
"Well, you should have been more careful because I trusted you Rory!" Lorelai exclaimed with mixed emotions between anger and despair.
"Mom!" Rory yelled, as she began to freak out. "I didn't want this to happen! This isn't my fault! You accidentally got pregnant too- twice!" Rory continued to shout at her mother.
"Well if I didn't have you when I was 16, you wouldn't be here today!" Lorelai yelled.
"I wouldn't be here today, which means I wouldn't be pregnant and we wouldn't be in this situation!" Rory shouted, as they started to have a fully-fledged argument.

As Luke entered the house, he heard the two raised voices yelling back and forth at each other.
"Hey! What's going on in here?" Luke screamed as he barged into Rory's bedroom.
"Nothing!" Lorelai and Rory yelled in unison.
"Doesn't sound like nothing." Luke stated.
"I can't deal with this right now." Lorelai said in a hushed tone as she walked outside and sat on the porch steps with tears strolling down her face.
"Mom, wait!" Rory shouted after her.
"I'll see to her." Luke said, still confused.
"No Luke, it's best if I do it." Rory responded, forcing a smile onto her glum face and grabbing a blanket off her chair.

Rory padded onto the front porch and breathed in as she walked towards her mother and sat down next to her.
"Mom." Rory said quietly. "I'm sorry. "She said as she bowed her head.
"I shouldn't have yelled at you like that, I told you that you could talk to me and I flipped out,
I'm sorry." Lorelai replied as Rory lifted her head up.
"It's okay." She said as she placed her head on her mothers shoulder. After a few moments of silence, Rory began to speak again.
"Mom." Rory said, yet again. "I'm scared."
"Hey, it's gonna work itself out, I promise you. Lorelai said as she attempted to reassure her daughter when the truth was, she was scared herself.
"Let's go and talk in my room. Luke can stay downstairs tonight." Lorelai suggested.
"Okay." She replied as she stood up and wrapped the blanket around her shoulders.
