My foot was now purple. The bleeding had stopped, but now it hurt when I walked on it.

I whined as I pressed my back against a tree and took deep breaths.

"Arum," I called out quietly.

I shut my eyes and held my stomach. My vision blurred and I looked at my feet. I slowly found myself getting closer and closer to the ground and I only realized it once I was curling up next to the tree.

Sleepiness is a dangerous thing. It only comes at the worst of times. At the times when one needs to stay awake. At a time like this.

"There's no Arum."

My eyes looked up and down the river. There was no one.

Rionar could have just lied. Anyone could lie...why did I trust him!

I sighed and dipped my foot into the river. "Coyote! Why have you not granted me my wish!"

The water vibrated violently and I pulled out my sore foot. Steam began appear above the water and then the water began to flow red.

I backed away from the river and looked upstream for where it came. In the faint distance I saw a gang of heavily armed men against one kneeling in the river.

"Arum?"

I rose and hid in the under bush as I quickly approached them. I had my hand on my sword and my other carefully moving twigs away from my path,

I approached south of them and circled around to make sure their numbers were constant. Five brutes and one victim.

I waiting until the sun was at my back to plot my strategy. Going all out was out was out. So was sneaking up.

"Coyote," I whispered softly, "Help me."

The biggest brute wore a bulky hunter's outfit and seemed to be the boss of them all. He lifted a gigantic axe above his head.

"I ask you one more time little one, give us the brat and we'll let you live."

The man on his knees spat up blood into the river. His face was brutally red and so were his clothes.

He remained silent.

The boss growled and brought down his axe. "No, no, no," I gasped as my weapon left my hand.

I coward behind the bush. Idiot! You don't throw swords!

I covered my ears and waited for the cry of pain, but it painlessly missed everything and everyone.

"Boss."

I began to cry from fear and desperately tried to calm myself. My heart rapidly beat from the terror I faced.

In front of me, two heavy footsteps brought even more fear. Even when it was beating so fast, my heart kept going faster.

A rough laughter was brought from my fear and it was joined with by four others.

A hand threw me back and picked me up. It brought me up to the level of the boss's face. The boss's blood stained face.

My heart pulled twice and then it froze. My hands dropped from my ears and I stared into the boss' blood thirsty green eyes.

My heart pulled again and again until it began rapid again.

With the boss's smile, I screamed.

All the blood drained from my face and my body went numb.

The sky went jet black and only the sound of the river gave location.

"Shut up!" The boss threw me onto the ground and grew his axe. "I know you're here shadow walker."

I rushed into a bush and covered my ears and tightened my eyes.

One very loud man screamed of pure terror at a sudden tear. Another sounded and a loud splash sounded in the river.

One by one more men died. The last one was the loudest.

The boss swung his axe and hit flew from his hand into the bush I was in and made a small, but deep cut into my left calf.

After the boss fell, soft footsteps came towards me.

I lept from the bush and buried my face into Alex's shoulder. I cried and wrapped my arms around him.

He did the same and squeezed me tight. He even kissed my head.

"You stupid moron."
