Gwendolyn's POV
This is too much.
This game is not going to end to some old man's words about where I can go and where I cannot.
I start walking to the same direction where I saw Gideon and the count go. I don't look over my shoulder to check if someone is following me, because I'm so mad that I don't care.
When I reach the first intersection, I wonder where I should go. Then I see some footprints on the dusty floor. It seems that this corridor hasn't been used for a while. I walk farther into the dark hallway. Now a little light would be in need.
I hear voices behind a wooden door that is closed.
Gideon?
I walk to the door and press my ear to it. Definitely Gideon and the count. It seems they're arguing about something.
"You know I can't do that!" That's Gideon. What could he never do? I thought that he was respecting the count, and usually you do favors to people you respect, don't you?
"I'm afraid I have to make you do that." WHAT? My curiosity just keeps rising and rising.
"Never", Gideon says.
Suddenly, I hear someone else walking in the room and grabbing someone's hands. Gideon let's out a shout of irritation. I think he didn't know that there was a third person in the room. Looks like the count has superiority against him.
I know that I should open the door and help him. But my legs wont move, my brain thinks that I can get more information if I don't surprise them. Why does this still feel so wrong?
"What are you doing?!" Gideon asks, shouting. He's nervous!
"As I said, you're going to do it anyway", the count says, deathly calm. "Rakoczy, do the job." How does Rakoczy relate to this?
"No!", Gideon yells frustrated. "You can't do it against my will!"
I open the door, and the last thing I see is Gideon before white flames come and swallow him. He's elapsed.
"What did you...", is all I have time to say before the flames come and take me back too.

When the dizziness has faded and I can focus my sight again I see the worried faces of everyone standing in the room. I look behind my back, turn around but... something is lost. A lightbulb explodes in my head when I remember what I just saw a couple seconds ago.
"Where's Gideon?"
Mr. George starts to explain.
"We started to worry when he didn't come back before you, at the time we set on the chronograf. You went first, so logically you should've been here first but Gideon's time span was shorter, so actually he was the one who was supposed to appear first..."
"Did you see anything weird before you elapsed?" Falk DeVilliers stops Mr. George by asking a simple question. Still my brain doesn't want to understand it.
Anything weird? I didn't see anything weird. Except what I saw behind the door. But...
"Gwendolyn?" I look at the speaker. Dr. White.
"You look shocked. Did anything scare you?"
...but in the corner of the room...
"Would you like to sit down?"
A chronograf
"Gideon did elapse", I say. I can hardly hear my own words.
"Excuse me?" Dr. White asks.
This time I speak louder: "Gideon did elapse".
"But he didn't return here", Falk DeVilliers says.
How long it takes for these idiots to understand?
"By another chronograf. From the corner of the room".
"What room?", Falk asks.
"Maybe it's better that we get Gwendolyn home, looks like she's in a shock", Mr. George says. Falk looks at him.
"She can explain the rest tomorrow", Mr. George says, shrugging.

Couple minutes later I am sitting in the limousine again, this time going home. I'm so thankful it's Friday. Anyone doesn't speak to me which is good because I don't want to speak to anyone. I watch the streets go by. When we're in front of our house I mumble a short "thank you" and get out of the car as fast as I can. As I reach the front door I realize it's locked for the night. It's probably over midnight by now, I think as I lean my head to the door.
I try to knock quietly. Maybe Mr. Bernhard is still awake. I count seconds, and after the 13th one Mr. Bernhard opens the door. He is still wearing his casual suit.
"Was it nice at the soiree?", Mr. Bernhard asks. I know he is just trying to be friendly, but at the moment his words sound more evil-like.
"Everything but nice", I say while stepping in. "I wont maybe attend others for breakfast tomorrow", I add.
"That's okay. Good night Gwendolyn", Mr. Bernhard says.
"Good night Mr. Bernhard", I sigh.

When I have climbed the steps up to own my room, I text to Leslie:
Can you come in the morning?
She texts almost immediately back. I wonder if she ever sleeps.
Sure thing. I'll come through your window.

Wow. This chapter needs to be called "weird". Let's hope that the following ones deserve better names :"D
Don't forget to elapse daily,
See you! :3
