Gwendolyn's POV

I can already hear Leslie and Xemerius when I walk up the stairs into my room. It seems they are having fun, but how could that be possible? Leslie can't see Xemerius, except if she has invented a new pair of scientific goggles that make your eyes able to see invisible things. On the other hand, I could totally believe that from Leslie.

The truth is totally the opposite when I open the door. My room has changed into a laboratory, but not for making scientific goggles. The floor is covered in puddles of water and the walls have a new, fresh, neon green polka dot jacket. I can't move farther from the doorway.

"What on earth has happened here?"

"Looks like your friend has done some reorganization in your room", I turn around and see Charlotte standing behind me. She looks smug, and her orange hair is laying perfectly on her shoulders. I wonder if anyone could guess we're relatives, me standing right next to her in my comfy leather jacket and my hair in a messy ponytail. I look more like a tourist in her house (a feeling you shouldn't have in your own home).

"What?", I mumble as I look in her greenish eyes. They're matching so perfectly with her hair.

"You remember Leslie don't you?", Charlotte asks and sighs. "And by the way, what is that sculpture in the corner, your new purchase, perhaps?" After that she turns around and walks to her own room, her shoes repeating the words she just said a couple seconds ago.
I look at the 'sculpture' on my bed. It's covered in the same neon green paint as the walls are, it has wings, little horns, just like... Xemerius?

I look at Leslie: "You'd better start to explain."

*

"It all started when I came here and sat on your bed. I was just taking my notebook from my bag when Xemerius spitted water on your nightstand, and I got an idea".

"One of the best ideas I've ever heard of", Xemerius says.

"Exactly", Leslie continues. And now she hears Xemerius too?

"I said that he should spit water in the floor in the shape of letters, so we could communicate. And Xemerius did, although it needed a couple of tries".

"Yeah, I can see that", I say while thinking how long it will take for the floor dry up.

"Just a couple", Xemerius says and shakes his finger in the air.

"After that I thought it would be easier if I could see Xemerius, because I always didn't see where he spitted the water, so I took some syrup from the kitchen and mixed it with paint, Nick was kind when he let me borrow it, say thank you to him for me, will you? When the mixture was ready, I poured it on to Xemerius and the syrup worked just how I imagined it would. It helped the paint to stick on Xemerius, so now other people can see him too." Leslie clearly is proud of herself.

"I'm happy that you got such an amazing idea but..."

Leslie looks at me questioningly.

"We have to clean all this up", I remind her.

We both sigh at the same time.

*

After two hours of mopping, scrubbing the walls and letting the air come in from the windows everything is clean again, at least clean enough for me to live here.
Leslie falls on my bed: "After this I won't be cleaning ANYTHING for a week."

I laugh: "You don't have to if you won't make any scientific tests in my room."

"I hate cleaning anyways", Leslie complains.

"Okay, let's move on to the another subject", Xemerius shouts and claps his hands. For the first time I watch him closely and can't help but laugh.

"What?"

I notice it's impossible to speak when you're laughing too hard. "Green just suits you", I say when I calm down a little bit.

"You don't have to be sarcastic, green was the only color Nick had", Leslie says from my bed. The pillow has fallen down and is sitting on the floor. I go and put it back to its original place.

Xemerius continues: "As I said-"

"What is this?", I take a piece of paper that fell down when I took the pillow. It has some very small handwriting on it.

"What it says?", Leslie takes the paper from me.

20th of October 1756, Lodge's roof

"Just one date?", Xemerius asks behind my back.

"I think you should elapse here", Leslie says as she turns the paper around. There's no writing on the other side.

"I don't understand how it can be here, in my room", I say.

"Me neither", Leslie puts the paper on my nightstand. Straight to a small puddle of water we missed earlier.

"Leslie wait!", I shout but the paper has already soaked all the water in it.

"...Sorry...", Leslie's eyebrows instantly curve to make her face look sad.

"No, it's okay", I say. "I just forgot the date."

"And here you see another reason why I am an irreplaceable part of your team", Xemerius says. Leslie and I turn around and look at him with raised eyebrows.

Xemerius keeps a little pause before continuing: "The date was 20th of October in 1756."

Leslie's face lights up in one quarter of a second. "Awesome! Gwendolyn, next you have to go to the Lodge and see -"

"Madame Rossini", I end up her sentence.

***

I've noticed that I write 'Leslie' instead of 'Lesley', which is probably her orignal name? Which way you want her to be called in this fanfic? If you don't mind, I will continue writing 'Leslie', because it's more familiar to me.

And by the way, 268 VIEWS?! OH MY GOD THANK YOU <3

Don't forget to elapse daily,

See you!
