Gwendolyn's POV
I rush down the stairs of Saint Lennox. I'm in an extreme rush, since I had to stay in physics for extra forty-five minutes to do velocity calculations, and now I'm going to miss my bus.
"Well hello Miss Gwendolyn!", James shouts in front of me. Today he has a purple jacket and cream white pants, and his openable fan is in his hand, as usual. I don't have time to chat with him right now, so I just wave my hand and keep running straight past him.
"Sorry!"
When I step out from the main door I see that the yellow school-bus hasn't left yet. It stands in front of the gate, and air pollution -clouds are flying to the sky from the exhaust pipe. When I'm ten meters away from the bus, the driver pulls over and leaves from the stop-sign.
"No!"
I run behind the bus for about thirty meters - even though I know it doesn't matter anymore - before I stop and lean my hands to my knees. The bus is gone. I see how it turns from the corner, and grey clouds are a degree darker when the driver presses more gas.
Which means a long walk home. I sigh and start to walk to the same way as the bus went.

I peek at my watch. It says 16.25. My feet are hurting, I'm tired and most of all hungry. I look up and see the door of our house. I cross the road and run the steps to the door, eager to get in. The sun is falling slowly behind the horizon, ready to shine somewhere else. When I open the door and step in I see a letter on the little table near the door. I look at it and see it's for me. I raise my eyebrows. No one ever sends letters for me. I drop my backpack to the floor and put my jacket to the hanger, kicking my shoes off at the same time. I walk to the kitchen for some food and open the letter. Someone has bought apples and put them to a pretty bowl in the middle of our dining table, Mr. Bernhard probably. I take one and sit on the chair. When I take a bite from the apple my eyes finally see the text on the paper:
Dear Gwendolyn,
I have some information on how we can get Gideon back. I have the friendliest suggestion for you to elapse to 20th of October in 1756. Let's meet at the Lodge's little room next to the Dragon hall at 16.00 on the dot.
Mr. George
I drop the apple to the table and run to the stairs. When I'm up, a door opens right in front of me, almost smashing me to the face.
"Gwendolyn! What makes you run in the house like a maniac?", my mom says when her red hair appears behind the door. Her tight face tells me that lying is not an option. But I'm still going to try it.
"I just remembered I have to send my biology essay to Mrs. Clark in half an hour, and I haven't even started", I say the first excuse that pops to my mind.
Grace furrows her eyebrows but doesn't say anything. She clearly doesn't believe my words.
"Please tell everyone I don't want to be disturbed", I say and rush past her to avoid all the questions she hasn't asked yet.
When I close the door to my room, I go and check if I still have the dress I borrowed from Madame Rossini for the first time travel. It's still in my closet, hanging on the hanger as it would've been waiting for me. I take it out and change it on as fast as I can.
The next problem is how to style my hair. You can't just keep it open and flowing in the 18th century. I collect all the hair and put a couple of bobby pins in so it stays still just and just. After that I take my 'own' chronograf from the stuffed crocodile and put the date 20th of October and four o'clock p.m on set. I take the chronograf and drag it down, where I put my shoes back on and rush out of the door.
When I'm running down the street in my 18th century gown, I notice that many people look at you like I would be some kind of a unicorn running and giving marzipan-filled candy to everyone. One old woman calls for me next to the bookstore called books for bookworms (Yes, that name is awesome):
"Are you from the theater? You have a lovely dress!"
"Thanks!", I shout and hurry past her.
When I'm in front of the Lodge I go behind a pine tree and put the chronograf down. I hope no one will see me, especially someone from the Lodge. That would be the end of my life, in theory.
I try to keep my breathing in control, but it isn't easy when you've run a couple of miles. I put my finger to the hole that is meant for the ruby, and watch how the jewel inside fills up with a dazzling red light.
***
Omg. What did I say about better chapters, action and Gidolyn? ANY OF THOSE DIDN'T APPEAR IN THIS CHAPTER! My heart is crying.
Also, what do you think of the edit in the start? I tried editing, (and I LOVE IT!) and if you'd like, I'm going to use my own edits as a picture in the beginning? If you have any opinions, please let me know :)
Don't forget to elapse daily,
See you next weekend! :3
