"Wake up" I shook Nora for the hundredth time. "Dude, Wake up!"

"HUH?!"

"April, not you." I sighed. "Go back to sleep."

"Annora!?" I called out to the sleeping beauty.

Gosh, was it this hard for my mother to wake me up for school?

"What...?"

"Olivia..." I sighed again. "Not you, go back to sleep."

"Dude? Do you want pizza or what!" I raised my voice a bit.

"Pizza what?!" I turned back to see Nora standing near the door with a tooth brush in her hand.

"I thought ... um... What are you doing with a tooth brush?" I asked.

Well, it was early in the morning. Like, too early in the morning. It was 2:00am. And because there was a beach near, I had thought I'd take her there. I mean, it was still dark outside, but the breeze... and I wanted her to see the sunrise, with me of course.

So, I had taken the pain of waking up at two in the morning, getting curses from Sam, getting another set of curses from Mason for asking if I can take his bike at this time of the morning and disturbing him from his 'beautiful dream' apparently. But whatever, anything for her.

"Toothbrush." She looked at the object like the way Ariel in The little mermaid had looked at a fork. "I was brushing? Isn't that obvious?"

"Yeah, but it's two in the morning." I said.

"Okay... then what are you doing here?" she asked.

"Um... I think he is trying to ask you out."

"April. Shut up." I said.

I could hear her sleepily chuckling.

"I thought, maybe we could go to the beach. See the sunrise and you know... the climate here is good." I said lamely.

"I know." Nora said. "I wanted to go out myself, so I was just getting dressed."

"Oh." Nice plans, Ethan. So much for thinking up unique shit. "How were you planning to go?"

"Walking." She headed back into the bathroom and I got up, silently saying an apology to the girls who I had been shaking for the past couple of minutes.

"I have a ride." I said. "Mason's bike."

"Um... cool then. I'll be out in a minute."

I waited for more than ten minutes before I heard her come out of the room. She wore a crop top with 'WTF where's the food' print in the middle and a lace embroidered denim shorts. Her hair was up in a messy bun, as usual.

"It is kind of cold outside." I said.

"Oh. I'll just grab my coat, then." She said, almost about to run back into her room.

"No." I said before she could even make a move. "I'll give you mine."

It was almost three now. I didn't want to miss the sunrise and leaving her to her room wasn't really advisable at this point.

I was wearing a tee shirt with full sleeve under my sweater anyway, so I didn't care. I mean, I would have given her mine either way.

"Let's go" she grabbed my hand and rushed towards the door and opened it.

Well, this girl was excited.

-

"So...! You kissed her right?" Avery asked, poking my cheeks.

"No" I answered.

"Then?! What did you guys do out there?" Sam piped in.

"Nothing at all." I said, looking at the empty glass and poured some more water in to it.

"Okay..." Avery said. "You guys left at three in the morning and came back at one in the afternoon. And nothing happened?"

I shook my head.

"Huh. Right." Sam said.

"I will find out myself, or you spit it out." Avery smiled. How innocent. "Ethan?"

That was her last warning. I was going to tell her anyway, but you know what the fun in just saying everything is? Nothing, nothing fun at all.

"We went there, saw the sun rise. She said it was beautiful and then rests her head on my shoulder. by Five' forty, we were up to come back..." I sighed. Here it goes. "It rained, out of nowhere."

"Nice." Sam said. "And...?"

"And... what? We got on the bike, went to a small food place kind of thingy, she wanted pancakes and honey. I ate the same thing. We came back." I finished.

"Judging by the time you got back, something else happened" Sam said. "But, you don't have to tell us. Talk to us, or me cause this girl will know everything sooner or later" Avery rolled her eyes. "When you want to talk."

I instantly felt bad. Sam and I had always had that brotherly relationship, we fought sometimes and all but we spend most of the time together and talked to each other. We were always there for each other when the time came, from when we were just kids.

I nodded. He smiled at me and left the room. Avery looked a little annoyed.

"What is it?" I asked her.

"Just that... I mean, I know I will find things out at some point of time. But, I always want to hear things from my friends mouth." She looked at the wall. And I heard her silently say "I want to be talked to and trusted."

I looked at her. She was sad, of course. How could I be so ignorant towards her feelings? I mean, she was also just a human, a teenager who also loved being around and having fun with her friends. And just because she will know everything about anything and everything didn't mean she didn't need engage herself into those normal friendly, secretive talks that everyone shared with each other.

"She gave me directions to the house her father lives in" I finally said. "She knows this place more than we do, Ave. She has lived in this town for eight years."
