I hadn't slept the whole day, and I got a cold. From being out in the rain for so long and also because I had been too surprised that maybe my body couldn't physically handle it.

Whatever it was, I took two pills into my body and hoped it would do the work and started getting ready for the day. Mother had said that Annora had to catch up with some more notes and that she wouldn't come to school till Monday. So that left me the whole weekend and I was skipping school today. I thought I'll visit her and help her with everything, she can at least warm up to me.

I ran downstairs wearing a blue button-up shirt and dark jeans. I didn't want to spend much time on my hair as I woke up with it being perfect. Ah, what a day.

"Mum!!" I called out.

"Yes dear...?" she yelled back

"I'm going to Nora's place."

"You are skipping school?" she walked to the end of the staircase; arms crossed inspecting me from head to toe. "Nice look, young man."

"Heh. Thanks." I said, rubbing the back of my head.

"Okay, but have breakfast. You might need some energy, ya know!" she said winking.

"MUM! No!" I cried, almost.

Dad had always stayed busy with his life while mother always stayed home and worked trying to make a beautiful family. She was artist. A hardworking one, she was the pillar of this house and I was glad she was mine. She was the one always understood me. All the four of us were close with her.

I had a little sister Sofia, an elder brother and sister who were twins. Aaron was the eldest, his twin Emily. Aaron was the closest with mother out of all the four of us and he called her every day from Canada, he was working there as a doctor and Emily... she was fighting cancer.

She was diagnosed when three years ago, and luckily it was the first stage and it was curable. And she was still going through the procedures so that they could avoid a reoccurrence.

Sofia was with dad out to explore the big world. While at home me, mum and Emily was left.

"I have never seen you so happy in years! I'm so glad." Mum said almost about to breakdown in her own happy tears.

"Yeah... I'm really looking forward to you know..." I sighed. "I just missed her. It's been so long."

She gave me a warm smile and hugged me.

"Hey Mrs-" I was cut off,

"Miss, and call me Jane, Ethan. I've left all kinds of connections with that asshole."

I nodded awkwardly and she smiled at me.

Sam had told me that she was moving back because her parents had divorced. Avery added that Annora's father had been cheating on her. But, I couldn't help but wonder how and why? Jane was such a sweet woman. The guy was just stupid, or maybe it was just a mistake and he was never given another chance to amend it.

It might have affected Nora is some way, and if she wanted to talk, she had me and her sister Skylar too. But still, I was always there. Skylar was working with my brother in Canada as well. They were best friends and never had to stay apart from each other in any time of their life. So it was easy for them. Same school, college and work place. Wasn't it bliss?

I walked towards the room that Jane had directed me towards. I knocked on the huge white door.

After what it felt like minutes, the door slightly opened and Nora peeked out. When she took in my presence she had her baby blue eyes wide and suddenly shut the door on my face.

"Sorry!" she mumbled through the door. Her voice was muffled but audible.

"Um... yeah. You okay in there?" I asked.

"Yeah, yeah. Hold on a sec" she said.

I could hear her stumbling through her things and mumbling some random curses. I chuckled to myself a little. And then the door completely opened.

I blinked a little before my eyes adjusted to what she was... a goddess in disguise. She was wearing this white frock which ended below her knees with light yellow floral print on it. She had her hair in a messy bun and the little strands came out of t giving a shape to her face and making her eyes stand out a little. I gulped slowly as she adjusted her bag on her shoulder.

She looked at me and I froze for a second. She was so... beautiful.

"Let's go!" she called out and moved out to close the door.

"Where are we going?" I asked. "Um... aren't I supposed to help with some notes for you?"

"Yeah... but I'm done staying home. Let's go out for ... pizza?"

"Yeah, my treat." I said.

"No, mine..!"

I didn't stay to argue. I'll buy her some ice-cream later. Her favourite flavour was chocolate chip. I mean, I guess. It was eight years ago... she still loved pizza so... hope this guess works out and I don't embarrass myself.

We were out get on my bike when a car honked really loud in front of us. Annoyed I got out of my bike and looked into the car.

I couldn't believe it. It was him.
