Chapter three
Ninja training begins...now!
Kakashi moaned from the tapping sunlight against his face, he wondered how long he'd been sleeping. He blinked several times, trying to adjust his eyes to the brightness of his surroundings. Kakashi yawned; he finally managed to fully open his eye. He slowly sat up and turned to look at the spot where Kana slept last night. He scowled in confusion when he saw her missing. Where is she? He asked himself inwardly.
It was then Kakashi heard a familiar scream that echoed around his peaceful surroundings and disturbed the creatures nearby that were sleeping. It was almost like it was the answer to his question. Kakashi quickly stood up and stayed at the mouth of the cave to see what was happening. His eyes widened in surprise when he saw Kana running for her life while holding a bunch of bananas. "Hey Kana—" He cut himself short once he saw that she was actually being chased by a monkey.
Before Kakashi or Kana knew it, she was already tumbling down the hill while the monkey was sitting down happily on a branch of a tree, laughing and pointing at her mockingly. "Kana-sama!" Kakashi called as he quickly ran at the possible spot where she might land. He outstretched his arms, ready to catch her but instead, Kana fell on Kakashi. An 'oof' escaped Kakashi's lips as he felt the sudden weight on his body. They stumbled onto the ground with Kana on top of him.
Kana looks into his surprised eye while Kakashi feels something spread through him that confuses him. He was lost into the depths of her beautiful blue eyes; he somehow couldn't keep his eyes off it. He couldn't understand why, and what was this odd but warm feeling in him. It was almost like he was under a spell. He finally snapped back into reality once Kana quickly got off him and sat down beside him with a sigh.
But she instantly felt better once she saw that the bananas she was carrying were unharmed. A triumphant smile formed her lips as she quickly took one and peeled it. She took a big bite, satisfying her growling stomach. Kakashi sat up and looked at her, she was a mess; her hair was slightly messy, her clothes were more torn and muddy and some parts of her body has dirt. But even so, she looked really happy and satisfied with herself. Kakashi was quite surprised at her sudden change of behavior, and he was wondering what is the reason for it. "Kakashi-san, here, get a banana. You must eat it, okay? I really worked hard on getting it for us." Kana said happily as she offered him a banana.
"Thank you, but you know you shouldn't have done something so reckless." He said as he accepted it.
"Great, you're just like my father." Kana groaned as she laid down on the ground with her hands behind her head. Kakashi stared at her, slightly surprised at her sudden outburst. "Always saying becareful this, becareful that," She ranted as she tried to imitate her father's low and deep voice in a mocking matter.
And then, Kana's eyes suddenly softened, you could clearly see the sadness in her eyes. "You're the princess of the land of mountains; you can never do what other girls do." She quoted what her father once said sadly as she gazed up at the blue sky, her mind was wandering off to her thoughts.
"Frankly, I'm thankful we got stuck here." She admitted.
"What? Why?"
"For the first time in my years of living, I'm finally like a cloud." Kana said as she pointed at the smallest cloud in the blue sky. It was far away from the other clouds and it was moving around freely.
"...a cloud?" Kakashi asked confused as he followed her gaze and looked at the tiny cloud.
"That cloud is me, while the other clouds over there are my problems. Since that cloud is far away from the others, it just goes to show that I'm free and away from the pressures of being a princess." Kana explained simply. "And just by being a princess, there have been so many moments in my life when I finally stopped believing in my dreams and I started to recognize my inadequacies more than my capabilities, my limitations, more than my potentials, my weaknesses over my strengths. I was overpowered by fears of disappointing my father or not living up to the expectations of the people of my land. I remained lonely, afraid, and like a little trained dog of my father."
