Chapter six
The right decisions
"Today's lesson is a very, very advanced technique that I'm sure only you can do it. Since we don't have that much time, I've decided to skip the ninja basics." Kakashi started. They were at the beach. He stood beside the half finshed raft while Kana sat down indian sit in front of him, listening closely to every word he says. "This lesson is—" Kana cut him short.
"What is it called?" She asked curiously.
"Well, you have to decide that yourself. The jutsu is a—" She cut his sentence short again.
"What is this really advance technique anyway?" She asked eagerly as she leaned closer. She hugged her knees close to her chest from excitement.
"Well if you stopped interrupting me, you would be able to know by now." Kakashi said, slightly annoyed, but he quickly brushed it off and put on his usual emotionless facade. "Anyway, I—"
"Sorry, Kakashi-san." She apologized sincerely and cutting him short once again. Kakashi arched an eyebrow at her and she quickly kept her lips shut. She nodded, urging him to continue.
"This technique is a mix of the great fire ball jutsu and your lava style." He explained finally. "Since you could easily spit out lava without weaving any signs, I've thought that what if you can do the same hand signs like the great fireball jutsu, but instead of fire coming out, it'll just be lava. It may take more chakra than the fireball jutsu, but this technique will create more damage than any kind of ordinary jutsu and it will defend yourself more against your enemies, but first things first, your aiming must be accurate." He continued.
"So, while you were sleeping a while ago, I was able to carve a circle onto many different trees around the forest. If your lava hits the middle of the circle accurately, you may already start practicing that jutsu." He added. Kana stood up, you could see it on her face that she is more than ready to train.
"I'm ready, Kakashi-san, just need to tell me when to go!"
"Ready, set..." Kana faced the forest, preparing to shoot the lava inside her mouth on her target. "Go!" Like the wind, she ran inside the forest and she quickly spotted all the circles that Kakashi was talking about. She spat on all the targets, hoping that she would get it right, but the lava landed on different places that were a little far from the target. Kana groaned in frustration but she kept on going. She eventually spat on almost all the targets, but unfortunately, she kept missing it.
"Damn it!" She cursed at the air. She was about to walk back to the beach until she saw the last target. It was high above the tree. Kana focused her chakra on her feet and quickly climbed the tree and stood at one of the branches so she shebwas in front of it. She took a deep breath as she gathered lava inside her mouth. Its heat didn't affect her at all, it just felt like warm water in her mouth.
I'm going to get it this time. She thought, trying to boost her confidence. She backed a way a little bit, trying to get her distance. Thinking it was not enough, she backed away some more without realizing that she was almost at the end of the branch. She spit out the lava and she succesfully hit the center of the circle. Kana yelled with joy at her latest achievement. But her happiness quickly disappeared when the branch she was standing on suddenly snapped.
The tree's branches scratched her arms, ripped her clothes and yanked her hair as she fell. She let out a scream as she realized that the sandy ground below her was rushing at her in an impossible speed. She focused her chakra on her hands and desperately tried to hold on to one of the branches, but her hands kept on slipping or it keeps on snapping in half. She squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for the hard impact, but it never came. Instead, something broke her fall and she heard a soft splash.
