Chapter twelve
Another adventure begins
Recap:
"Aki, don't!" But it was too late, before Kana's very eyes, she saw the lightning flash and zoom down, faster than wind and hit the area where Kakashi is 'causing Kana to scream.
"Kakashi!"
A sigh of relief escaped Kana's lips as she saw that Kakashi was protected by a thick layer of wood. Reinforcements from Konoha came that has been ordered by the fifth hokage. She immediately found out what they have been up to and decided a search party to get them back. Luckily, Shikamaru, Shino and Yamato's group found them. Aki took a step backward; his evil grin was wiped off his face. He was outnumbered and he knew that they will easily take him down.
He was about to run for it but suddenly a swarm of flying beetles attacked him 'causing him to fall backward onto the ground. Wood emerged from the ground and held him down so he wouldn't escape or do any jutsus much longer. "No! No! Let me go! I'm not done yet!" He yelled at the sky, he was so angry that his face started to become red and his veins started to pop out. Kana looked at him sadly as he struggled desperately to get out.
Kana stared at him for a while until she noticed something strange in his eyes. It looked blank as if he was being controlled like a mindless puppet. Wait, isn't his eyes always like that? She thought. But somehow it was different, this time she had this weird feeling or connection with the look in his eyes. And then it hit her like a brick. She gasped with a hand over her mouth as she took a step back. Guilt and horror crossed her face as she stared at the struggling Aki.
She did this to him. She is the reason why he is acting this way. No wonder he was so in love with her, no wonder he had split personalities and violent mood swings. If what he said was true then the love part or the everlasting jutsu to make your think your in love with the jutsu caster was already awaken from age 10. Her heart started to pound rapidly fast as she realized that she also poisoned his mind. That's why he suddenly acted so crazy a while ago.
Panic had set in but she had no idea how to calm myself. Her heart was racing and she had trouble breathing, let alone figure out what the next rational move should be. She couldn't move, she was paralyzed from so much fear and guilt. Your body feels spaced out, like nothing seems real. I would feel light headness/dizziness and I would observe my breathing just to check if was still living and my body could work on its own.
This was all her fault.
She fell to her knees, her eyes still locked on Aki, who was restrained by Yamato's wood style. She reached out her hand to touch him but Kakashi's voice interrupted her. "Kana-sama, are you okay?" Kakashi asked, his voice laced with concern as he placed his hand on her shoulder.
"Kakashi-san, it's all my fault!” She cried as tears streamed down her cheeks as she held her head while shaking it violently. He bent down so that they could be eye level.
"Kana-sama, what's wrong? What are you talking about?" He held both her shoulders, trying to calm her down and look at her in the eye, but she refused to make any eye contact with anyone because she was afraid to hurt someone like what she did to Aki. Now she finally understood completely why she was locked in the palace. Her father was trying to avoid anyone getting hurt or ending up crazy like Aki. She had a heavy feeling in her chest that she couldn't shrug off and it hurts so bad.
"It's Aki!" She couldn't stop crying. Just picturing his face and remember the look he had in his eyes made her heart sank in her chest and more tears to fall down from her face.
"You know it's not your fault he's like that, right? It was his. You did nothing wro—"
"No! Can't you see his eyes? It's my fault! I did this to him with the power of the Aigan! I made him crazy, I made him trapped in this ever lasting genjutsu that makes him think that he loves me! And if what Aki said was true, it's the same thing with you." Her voice was quivering as she spoke. She swallowed the lump in her throat as her eyes fell to the floor. A flood of tears gushed down her face, staining her beautiful dress. She couldn't look at him. She doesn't want to make the same mistake again.
"Kana-sama I—"
"No, Kakashi-san, when we were stuck in that island, there wasn't a single moment when we were together that you didn't look into my eyes. What if you end up like him? Kakashi-san, I'm terrified of what will happen to you or to him. And I can't live with myself knowing that it is all my fault."
"I told you it's not your fault. You didn't do anything. You were not even aware then about your power. So stop—"
"Kakashi-san, please stop trying to make me feel better, because you're just making me feel even worse. We have to find a way to help the both of you. We have to speak with my father and maybe ask for help. I'm begging you." She pleaded. She whispered the last sentence as she squeezed Kakashi's hand. "Please...I don't want to hurt anyone else."
Kakashi's face soften as he let out a sigh of defeat. "Okay, okay. But before we can do anything, I have to go back to my village to explain to the hokage. You may tag along to help me explain everything, but the rest of the trip; you have to be blind folded, if what you say is true. Do you understand?" He said reassuringly. She nodded, understanding. Kakashi stood up
and helped her up before he walked toward Yamato, who was the team captain of this squad. He told him everything and he agreed with the plan.
Kana rubbed her arm as she stared at the sky. Another adventure yet again has awaited for her, and it was time to see Kakashi's village known as Konoha or the hidden leaf village. Kakashi tapped her on the back and she turned around to be welcomed by a blind fold. "They agreed to the plan. We will leave now along with the other leaf shinobi and Aki. So, are you ready?" He said calmly.
Kana nodded her head. "Yes."
