Blake

"Why do we need school mom?" My sister questioned my mom as she ate her Cheerios. It had been a few weeks since we have moved to Idaho and now it was the beginning of December.

We were living in Damien's house. He told me to call him Damien instead of Uncle Damien, which was okay for me.

Once we moved here, I found out that he owed my mom a favor. Apparently something had happened with them and he ended up owing her somethings. I'm not really sure though, but they seem as if they dated.

I mean it's kind of obvious, they flirt around the house which was kinda gross at first, but I have gotten used to it. At first, I didn't trust Damien that much for some reason.

But the thought of potentially having a dad terrified me. I remember what happened with my own father all those years ago back in New York. Even though I was only like eight or nine, I vividly remember everything.

After that, every time my mom tried to bring a guy home, he would either turn out to be a giant asshole or I would chase him away.

But I couldn't do that with Damien because for the first time in years, my mom was truly happy. And seeing everything we have gone through, it felt better knowing mom could finally catch a break.

Speaking of mom, she did get a job in a building somewhere. Turns out, Damien is an architect or something and has a company, which he offered mom to work there and she gladly accepted his offer.

So now, it was about two weeks before Christmas, which was good.

"Blake, did you hear what Max said?" Aspen questioned me. I snapped out of my thoughts and turned to her. I noticed mom had left the kitchen.

"What did he say this time Aspen?" I asked in a bored tone.

"He said that he thinks Mr. Damien likes mommy!" Aspen exclaimed, as Max and Aspen giggled. I rolled my eyes and gave Aspen a playful shove.

"Whatever stupid," I said to Aspen as she rolled her eyes.

"I'm not stupid! You're stupid!" Aspen sassed me.

"Yeah, whatever!" I said, finishing my breakfast and putting it in the sink. I went upstairs to the room Max and I now shared, which had my clothes all over it.

Mom was gonna beat my ass when she saw this.

I grabbed my shit and threw it all in the hamper. Once I did that, I got dressed and got ready to go to the place where I die aka school.

Damien ended up driving us to school and he dropped off Aspen and Max first. Then, he drove to the middle school nearby and dropped me off.

"Bye Blake, try not to piss off your mom more!" He spoke.

"No promises!" I told him as he laughed and drove off.

Once I got to school, I immediately walked into the schoolyard, where every middle schooler went in the morning. I saw my friends playing basketball and I went up to them.

"Yo Blake, what's good?" One of my friends Maddox asked me.

We ended up playing basketball with a few other kids. The bell rand and we all went into the school building to get to class.
