Gianna

Here is the thing about having kids, they can be loving, caring angels sometimes. They make your day most of the time.

Other times, they are just little devils who require your attention and money twenty-four seven. They can be little brats and not give any fucks.

Right now, I was feeling the second one as I attempted to drag Aspen out of a birthday party. When I say drag, I literally mean drag considering she was making a scene in front of the whole fucking party.

Aspen was clutching onto a chair for dear life, trying to convince me to stay for a few more hours, which I said no because we had stayed for another two extra hours.

"Aspen, lets go!"

"No! I want to stay!"

"Aspen May, we are leaving right now, or else you will not be allowed to sign up for dance like I promised." I sternly told her as she gave up and let go of the pole. The other moms were looking at me with understanding and apologetic looks as I just sighed.

My daughter got herself up and smoothed her outfit out.

"I'm ready to go," She told me, a small smirk on her face.

Smiling, we said goodbye and left the house. While we drove in the car, I rolled down my window because it felt a little too stuffy from everything.

"Mom, Max thinks that I smell!" Aspen complained as I rolled my eyes.

"She does! She put her feet in my face!" Max exclaimed, frustrated.

Attempting to keep my laughter in, I put on my best parenting face.

"Aspen, don't do that because that's disgusting and Max apologize as well, because you don't tell her she smells in a rude way!" I scolded as they rolled their eyes and apologized to one another.

After that, the car got quiet again.

"Can you turn on the radio mom?" Aspen asked me as I opened up the radio.

The song 'Cold Water' by Justin Bieber and someone else I didn't know came on as Aspen started to sing at the top of her lungs. I loved my kids, but sometimes my little devils wouldn't shut the fuck up.

"Okay Aspen, that's enough." I told her, as she stopped singing. We stopped at a red light and I kept thinking about different things, such as Damien and how Blake had been acting when I got home. Something about his attitude felt off since he was keeping to himself and had that angry look on his face while doing homework. Once we got home, I would talk to him about-

"Hey!" Someone shouted from the car next to me. I peered over and saw that it was Jackson, sending my a friendly wave. Rolling down my window some more, I gave him a small wave back.

"Jackson, hi!" I exclaimed.

"Dad, whose that?" A voice questioned from the back of the car. There was no one in the passenger seat of his car, but from the looks of it, he must of had a child in the backseat.

"A friend from work Cooper," He told the child, as the child rolled down the window.

Once he did, I couldn't help feel something familiar about him. The boy, who appeared to be about nine, had dirty blond hair along with bright blue eyes and a friendly smile. The funny thing was that he looked nothing whatsoever like Jackson.

"Hi!" The boy, Cooper, exclaimed.

"Hi." I told him.

"Are you still coming for Christmas at my brother-in-laws in a few days?" He questioned me.

"Don't know, maybe. If I do, I might bring my kids, is that okay?" I questioned as Jackson nodded.

"That's perfectly fine, the more the merrier, right?" He questioned. From behind us, a car honked which signaled that we were talking for too long and to hurry the hell on up.

"Yep, have a good day!" I awkwardly told him as he wished me a goodbye and we went our separate ways. Once we did, I turned the radio a little higher.

"Who was that?" Aspen asked.

"Aren't you just filled with questions today?" I replied back.

"But who is he mom?"

"He is a friend from work and after we see Damien's family, we might go to their house for Christmas."

"Will there be other people my age mom?" Aspen asked.

"I don't know, but I think so."

"Do you think that Cooper boy will be there?"

"I don't know, maybe he will."

"Aww, boys are weirdos!" Aspen exclaimed.

"Yep, you won't be saying that in a few years," I muttered, as we pulled into the driveway. The light in the house were on, as usual. Nothing looked too out of the ordinary.

Walking over to the passengers side, I helped Max unbuckle his car-seat. His seat was getting too small for him, he might need a booster. I gave Aspen one when she was around his age, same with Blake.

Aspen got out from the other side and slammed the door while I lifted Max out and placed him on the ground. Locking the doors, the three of us walked to the front door.

"Momma, can we call Auntie Harley and Sadie later?" Max questioned.

"Yeah, can we!?" Aspen spoke, her eyes lighting up in excitement. I chuckled as I rang the doorbell, too lazy to take out the keys Damien had given me.

"Sure," I told them, as Damien opened the door.

But what stopped me was the stressed and overwhelmed look on his face.

"Okay kids, why don't you go downstairs for a little bit and watch Tv."

"Can we watch anything?"

"As long as it's not Rated-R," I told them as they took off their shoes and scurried down to the basement. As soon as they did, Damien shut the door and looked intensely into my eye.

"We need to talk," He told me.

"Why, what's wrong?" I questioned, before he looked away. His eyes held regret and pity in them as he looked at me. The look, I knew that look. That's the look everyone used to give me after they saw what happened to me. That was part of the reason I moved to California after what happened with him.

I wouldn't dare say his name anymore.

All I'm saying is he was a fucking asshole and deserved what he got.

"It's Blake," He spoke, as my face paled and I immediately ran upstairs ignoring Damien calling my name.
