Gianna"What's wrong?" Damien asked me, crawling on the space next to me. It had been a week since the whole encounter and let's just say, it still lingered on my mind.
My fathers words and past memories surfacing didn't seem to help the fact either. My teenage years weren't the best, but I had grown up since then. That night I was thinking about re-connecting with my family again seeing how much I missed them but those efforts were pushed aside when my dad stormed in and ruined everything.
I mean, I shouldn't talk considering I'm the black sheep of the family. I've never been the best influence to my siblings, but I'm hoping my children won't see me as a monster who fucked everything up.
"Nothing, just thinking." I spoke, as Damien snaked his arms around my waste and pulled me closer. The room was silent and filled with tension as the two of us sat there unmoving.
"Babe, I told you to let it go. If your dad wants to make amends, he can but if he wants to push you away, then show him all the good he's missed." Damien told me.
Damien had always offered good advice to others, including myself. In a way, I couldn't let it go, everything still was permanently embedded into my mind.
But he was right, it was up to my dad if he wanted to get to know me now or not. Hell, it was up to my whole family. If they said yes, I would be alright with that but if it was the opposite, I wouldn't be surprised.
"Since when do you call me babe?" I questioned him, shifting around to face him. I was met with his vibrant grey eyes looking directly into mine, trying to read my emotions.
"Oh that's all you can think about? I just gave you some awesome advice and-" Was what he said before I cut him off with a kiss. He was surprised at first but gradually allowed the kissing session to go on.
"I should give advice more often." He spoke as the two of us pulled apart. I let out a small, genuine laugh which he picked up on because he smiled too.
And pretty soon we just stayed there, laying in each-other's arms until we fell asleep.
Passing by many trees as I ran, I felt the familiar adrenaline course through me. I haven't had a solid, thinking workout run since California, so this run felt good.
All of a sudden, the music stopped and the annoying alarm from my phone reminded me that my hour of freedom was over. Leaning my body against a tree, I steadied my breathing and focused on the small pile of rocks on the grass as children ran around it since it was inside a playground. For some reason, this triggered a small flashback.
"Come on Casey, you're it!" My five year old self screamed as my older brother charged after me. A slow victory smile spread on his face but in a flash I ducked and he smacked his head on the slide. Casey fell down with a thud as he held his head and stared to cry.
Shay then ran from where he was and looked at Casey then back at me.
"Gigi what did you do!?" Shay yelled, angered by this. Shay helped Casey stand up as Casey held his hand up to his forehead. Shay took a look at it and I winced when I noticed the cut was open and blood was oozing from it.
"Good job Gia, look what you did!" Shay exclaimed, as Casey held the tears back in his eyes. Out of my brothers, Shay was always the toughest on me while Casey and I naturally got along.
"It wasn't my fault, we were just playing a game!" I spoke, defending myself. Casey sat on the edge of the slide as he attempted to keep blood from not flowing from the cut.
"You didn't have to make him hit his head stupid!" Shay exclaimed, walking over to me. He was standing right in front of me as hot anger blazed in his eyes. Guilt and sadness filled into my eyes as he looked at me.
"I'm not stupid!" My young voice spat out shakily.
Out of no where, Shay pushed me to the ground as my small body hit a rock. I winced at the pain from when the rock connected into my back as I looked up at Shay, who looked so tall.
"All you do is just cause problems, I wish you weren't in this family." Shay spat, looking down at me. In that moment, my young heart broke as I felt a wave of tears fill up in my eyes as I tried to blink them away. Shay's words were like a slap to the face that stung really bad.
But instead of staying on the ground, I stood up to face Shay. I couldn't show him his words hurt so I did what I knew what to do at the time:
I fucked shit up.
At that moment, my clenched fists connected with his face as Shay let out a small shriek and stumbled backwards. My small yet powerful punch caught him off guard.
Shay lunged at me but before anything could happen, dad grabbed a hold of him as mom went to look at Casey. After that, we took a family trip to the hospital for Shay's broken nose and Casey's cut.
A ringing from my phone startled me. The familiar ringtone played in my earbuds as I clicked the accept button. The number appeared to be a familiar one that was on the tip of my tongue.
"Hello?" I spoke.
"Hello, is this the parent of guardian of Max Harrison?" An unknown tone questioned from the other side of the line. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion as to why they knew his name.
"Yes, who is this?" I asked.
"This is the secretary from your child's elementary school. Your son has gotten into a physical altercation with two other students. Can you be here-"
"Yes, I'll be there shortly." I spoke, hanging up and running back to where I parked my car. Even though I smelled like sweaty shit, I couldn't shower until I picked Max up from school and went to see what this fight was about.

Sorry for the horrible lack of updating, school is kicking my ass with tests. I only have a few weeks left and I need to do better with my classes this semester than last.
