Love and Lies

Chapter 4

Moonbeam's POV

I woke up thankful that it was finally Saturday. The past 2 days have been torture. Why? Well, once everyone found out that Jasmine was the future Luna, all the girls wanted him more and the guys didn't want Jasmine anymore.

This meant that girls were close by Bracken wherever he went. I actually felt bad for him but what could I do? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Anyways, on Thursday, the day after everyone found out about Jasmine, Bracken and I were joking around in Geometry. And at some point I told him that just because he is my brother, that doesn't mean he has to mess with me.

And of course, everyone in class heard it thanks to their werewolf hearing. Unfortunately, it spread around school that Bracken and I are close now, which we are. In fact, he is like a second brother to me. However, when everyone found out, all of the girls that wanted Bracken took a sudden interest in being my 'friend' and all of the guys that had wanted Jasmine started flirting with me.

It was quite annoying to have to deal with all of them. They were so desperate for my attention, that it was actually really pathetic. Gone was my 'stay in the shadows and never be noticed' philosophy and in came a whole lot of attention. I didn't like it one bit. I was followed everywhere by at least one person and everyone started sitting at my secluded little lunch table. I couldn't even get a second to myself without someone throwing some kind of party invitation at me. It got so bad that at lunch, I now have to sit in the very back corner of the library and eat lunch there.

I'm extremely thankful that the librarian understands because she is in our pack too and knows what's going on. In fact, everyone at our school is either in our pack, or is the mate of someone in our pack. Even the teachers are in our pack. It's really nice because we don't have to hide what we are since everyone at school is a werewolf. We can be somewhat free in our school.

Anyways, so now you know why I am extremely elated that it is Saturday. No school means no creepy stalkers following me around.

I got out of bed and turned on my I-Home speakers. Can We Dance by the Vamps bounced off my walls as I got ready for a new day. I hopped into my shower and washed up. This is one upside to having Beta blood, getting my own room complete with a walk in closet and my own bathroom.

After I was done, I blow dried my hair and decide to leave it the way it naturally is. I threw on some skinny jeans, a tank-top and a hoodie that says 'Get Over It', and completed the look with a black beanie.

I turned off my speakers, grabbed my I-phone and left my room. I walked slowly down the 2 flights of stairs to the first floor where the kitchen, game room, movie room, and laundry room is.

I decided to go to the game room but I didn't even make it past the stairs before I got stopped by 3 of the girls that have been bugging me for the past 2 days. They also used to bully me even though nothing they ever said affected me. I groaned slightly and crossed my arms.

"Yes?" I asked.

"Hey, bestie! We just wanted to know if you wanted to go shopping or get mani's and pedi's?" The leader of the small group, Brittany, asked.

"Yeah, no thanks. I was just about to go play some video games." I tried to walk around them but they blocked my way again.

"Well, can we play with you? Video games sound fun!" Brittany's nasally, high-pitched voice asked. Did I happen to mention they are in the 'bitches' category at school?

"Er, I guess so. If you really want to. " I shrugged but then I covered my ears as they all squealed and jumped up and down.

I shook my head and just went on to the game room. I found that there were about 6 guys in the game room. Two were playing pool and the other 4 were on the X-Box.

"Hey, can we play?" I asked. The guys all turned to look at me and as soon as they saw me they nodded their heads vigorously.

I grabbed one of the X-Box controllers from a guy that offered it. I looked to my right to see Brittany and the other girls flirting with the guys. I rolled my eyes and turned back to the flat-screen TV.

"What are we playing?" I asked to no one in particular. Since only three guys weren't being distracted by Brittany and her clones, only three of them answered.

"COD. " All three of them said.

I nodded and they started the game. By the end of the game, all three guys were looking at the screen in shock. The other three in the room had left at some point with Brittany and her clones and I'm sure you could guess why.

"How is this even possible?!" The one that handed me a controller, I learned his name was Jack, said.

"Yeah! We got beat every time we played with you. " Mason added.

"And we even teamed up against you!" Jace said.

I laughed and shook my head at them. After they got over their initial shock, we all started talking about ourselves. I learned that they were actually pretty cool, after you looked past the fact that they were all players, that is.

"Well, it was fun playing and talking with you guys but it's been 3 hours since I've been up and I haven't even eaten yet so adios chicos! " They all said bye and went back to playing the X-Box.

Once I got into the kitchen, I made myself a sandwich. Before I could bite into it though another group of fakes surrounded me.

"Hey, wanna come to this party at..."

"No, come with me and my friends to go....."

"No way! She is coming with me to the mall...."

It went on like this and I was starting to get a headache.

"Guys?" But no one payed any attention.

"Guys?" I said a bit louder but still, none of them heard me. Finally, I had enough.

"LISTEN UP!" I yelled and all of the sudden my hands were on fire.

All of the girls in the kitchen started to panic, myself included. They all ran away to get help or something while I tried to put out the fire. As suddenly as the flames had come though, they disappeared.

"What happened?!" Bracken asked running into the kitchen. All I could do was shake my head and stare at my hands.

"Moon? Moon? MOON!" But I ignored him. I couldn't believe what had happened. How did that happen? Why am I like this?

"Moon, it's okay. You are only growing into your powers. When you turn 16 tomorrow, you will gain all of your powers." Bracken explained.

"What do you mean powers? Why am I like this? YOU KNEW BUT YOU DIDN'T TELL ME? I'M A FREAK, BRACKEN! " I shook my head and ran out of the kitchen, to the forest.

I ignored Bracken telling me to come back. I ignored Bane's voice yelling at Bracken. All I did was run away as fast as I could and once I hit the beginning of the forest, I changed into my wolf and ran even faster.

Where are we going Moon?

'I'm not sure. All I know is we are getting far away from here. We are a danger to the pack. We don't belong here. We don't belong anywhere.'
