Ryker's POV

"That's your uncle, your mother's brother, Ian, that tried to kill you." When the King said that, all I could see was red.

I started to shake with anger and a deep guttural growl was coming from me. I was trying to calm down but it wasn't working out so well because I was furious! How could her uncle do something like that to her? I was mad when I found out a stranger tried to kill my mate but her uncle? That just pissed me off. Family is supposed to protect each other. Yeah, you have fights but you don't KILL each other!

Moon grabbed my face in both of her hands and made me look at her. Her eyes widened when she saw that I was close to changing into my wolf form. She knew that since I was originally a wolf, I wouldn't be able to hold off the shift for much longer.

"I need all of you to back up. I'm going to take us to my other dimension until he calms down. I don't want anything bad to happen to anyone. There is already enough crap on our plates." They all nodded at Moon and backed away. She then turned towards me again.

"Try to hold it off for a few more seconds." I gritted my teeth and nodded. My skin was rippling and I could feel my bones starting to shift. It hurt to try and delay the process but I worked through it.

One minute we were in Eric's room and the next minute I am standing on the forest floor. My knees buckled and I fell to the floor. I couldn't stop it any longer. My bones started shifting and my heart raced in my chest. My fingers began to elongate and my face was stretching to form a snout. My eyes slid back a bit to the sides of my head and they lost their roundness to become more almond shaped.

After my shift was complete, I huffed in relief and collapsed on the ground. My eyelids felt heavy and started to droop due to my weariness. All my muscles relaxed and my heartbeat slowed. I finally surrendered to the sweet calling of sleep.

Moonbeam's POV

I sat next to Ryker on the forest floor and thought over everything. I was so afraid. Afraid of never being able to see Ryker again. Afraid of never having pups and watching them grow up. Afraid of never seeing Jake grow up. Afraid of never meeting any of my brothers' mates and their future pups. Afraid of dying.

My eyes stung with tears and my vision blurred. I wiped away the tears before they could fall. I shook my head to rid all of the questions and self-pity from my mind. Tyler was right. I couldn't give up. I had to find a way, a way to get through this and come out of it alive.

I stood up and sent us back to our dimension. Ryker ended up on Eric's bed and I smiled. I pulled the blanket over him and then left the room as quietly as possible. I followed everyone's scent to what I assumed was the living room. Everyone stood up when I entered and I smiled. I motioned them to sit down.

"Ryker is fine. He's resting because resisting the shift took a lot out of him." They all sighed in relief and relaxed against the couches.

"Now, I need your help. Tyler, you were right. I can't just sit around and wait for my sickness to take over. Therefore, I've decided that I'm going to find a way to fix this. Do you know anyone, anyone at all that could help?"  I looked at every single one of their faces until I landed on my father. His face was free of any emotion but his eyes held a look that I knew all too well. A look of guilt and a secret. I knew that he wasn't going to tell me anything so I went into his mind.

I saw images of a man with red eyes and white hair. He was about 6 foot 4 inches with sparkling white teeth and sharp fangs instead of regular canines. He was obviously a vampire but the woman standing next to him, around her late 30's or early 40's, was a werewolf. She had long, black hair with strands of pink and blue and dark, purple eyes. She was about half a foot shorter than the man. She was smiling up at him, showing off her Colgate, white teeth and werewolf-sharp canines.
