"If we could get them both, Zola, imagine the power we'd have!" Zola winced once Schmidt raised his voice.

"How, sir, might we do that?" They'd had already caught the boy, and all the correct tests proved positive and negative as they needed.

"The other one will come to us unwillingly."

"Y/N, listen. They're not gonna except you, so you shouldn't even try. I mean-"

"Got my letter, James." You waved the acceptance letter in front of his face, and he stood awestruck. "Why are you doing this?"

"We promised we'd do everything together when we were little, remember?" You knew Bucky wasn't going to take that as an answer. He always wanted the truth from you and he most often got it. But now, he wasn't going to.

"Hell, Y/N. Tell me the real reason." He pulled your shoulder back so that you faced him.

You shook your head. "You're my twin. It's really that simple."

"Fine. Don't tell me. If I can't convince you to stay, then I'll convince the captain to expel you."

"James, I'm going to be one of his best soldiers. I don't want you ruining that just because you're five minutes older. We're gonna win this war and we'll come out of it together."

"Fine. But I swear to god if you get hurt..."

"I won't."

You'd been at the camp for weeks, and still you hadn't seen your brother. Another soldier had told you and Steve that a ton of men had been captured, and you immediately went to the Captain.

"Can you find Sargent James Barnes? Do you know him? He's my twin brother. I think he was captured on n the last mission." You murmured next to Steve.

You were there at the time when he'd gotten the serum, and you still weren't used to cuddling with a muscle Steve.

"Can't say that I have. I'm sorry, soldier." Panic rose inside you quickly, and Steve dragged you into one of the tents.

"What if he's-What if he's gone? Steve, I can't lose him." Steve pulled you into his arms, unable to say anything else. "I have to look for him. I have to."

"Y/N, Stay here. I'll go." You shook your head. You wouldn't lose Steve either.

"We both will. If I'm captured, you leave and come back with better men. Promise me." Your teary eyes locked with Steve's and he nodded, silently promising.

"You need to leave! Come back for me, Steve!" You were talking to him over your broken comm. and he wouldn't listen as you told him to go.

"You need to leave without me. I'm not gonna make it out of here."

"Okay. Okay. I'm coming back for you."

"You better, Rogers." Tears ran down your cheeks, and Steve's as he ran further from you.

"I'll be back, Y/N. I swear."

And the last thing he heard was your scream.
