She didn't wake up for a week, and Bucky never left her side. He held her hand, and sometimes laughed with the howling commandos about anything and everything, but when they left he was always on the brink of tears.

But when you did wake up, you were different. You couldn't remember your name.

"What do you mean you don't remember your name?" Steve's eyes showed serious concern. "I just-It's not there. I don't remember it."

"That's what they did to me too. They must've done it more to her." Bucky traced the bruises on her face that hadn't healed.

"Your name is Y/N Barnes. Mmk?You're my twin sister." She sighed. "They did something to me, James. They did something and I'm scared they're gonna do it again.."

"They're not gonna touch you. They're not gonna touch you as long as I'm alive." Bucky softly smiled, and looked to Steve. "You should go home, Y/N."

Her eyes widened. "Hell no! I forgot my name, not why I'm here. I told you we were gonna win this war. And we are."

"Y/N, we have no idea what they did to us-"

"So you can stay but I can't? How does that work, brother?" Bucky and Steve stayed silent. "I'm not going home. You can try to make me, and I won't speak to you again, or you can let me stay. Your choice."

Bucky knew better than to argue with you. You had once not spoken to him for a month in high school, when he beat up someone who had put their hands on you. So he knew you were completely capable of not speaking to him.

"Fine. Stay."

"Y/N, you take em' from the top on the left, Bucky, on the right, Okay?" You nodded, splitting from the two.

You easily kicked and punched your way through everything, easily flipping and knocking out the enemy one by one.

"Can't wait to see you again, sweetheart." One officer murmured before you knocked him out too.

"What the hell?" You were on Bucky's back as everyone ran out, avoiding getting caught by anyone. "He told you he'd see you again?"

"Yeah, like the next time he did see me he was going to hurt me or something."
You'd never let Bucky see it, but this did scare you.

"Well, he was probably just being an ass." Bucky walked with you on his back for awhile, and then you walked by yourself. To say you were worn out was an understatement. But you'd signed up for it. So you'd endure it.
