Chapter 6 - It Began on a Boat

As the train arrived at Hogsmeade station the carriage of five gathered up all of their belongings and hopped off the train onto the concrete. All staring at the wondrous sights around them along with the rest of the students who had gotten off the train. "First Years this way!" a booming voice echoed as all of the students turned to look at the large shadowed figure at the end of the platform.

Cassadee was looking around in wonder and could barely realise that James and Sirius both had one of her arms and were dragging her to follow the large figure, that was moving towards a lake. As Cassadee snapped out of her trance she glanced around and saw the face of the girl she bumped into on the platform and tugged on James' arm that he had linked through her own.

James felt Cassadee's arm slip from the grasp of his own so turned to look at her. "James, you go with them and i'll go with her. I promise i'll be fine." James could sense the nervousness in her voice but knew that Cassadee was afraid to go with Sirius, and just wanted to make another friend. "I'm glad you told me but Cass I promised Mum and Dad i'd take care of you, i'll come with you."

"No, James I can tell they want to go with you," Cassadee gestured to Sirius, Remus and Peter, "I promise i'll be fine, I need to be able to make my own friends, be myself. I'll meet up with you at the castle." Cassadee reassured her brother as she began to walk off once they had reached the edge of the lake. She was suddenly pulled back by her arm, expecting to turn around and she James' concerned face she saw Sirius looking at her with a confused expression.

"Aren't you coming in the boat with us?" she thought his voice sounded almost hopeful but dismissed it instantly. "No there's not enough room, it's fine i'll find someone else to go with." she turned and tried to walk away but Sirius' arm was still tightly entwined with hers. She faced him again and looked into his grey eyes, "I'm sure they would let one extra person in our boat. If not I'm sure Remus or Peter wouldn't mind finding another boat." His voice was full of hope and his eyes held concern.

"No, I can't make them do that. They need your company, look at them. Plus I know who else I can go with." Cassadee sounded so confident so Sirius, with extreme reluctance, loosened the grip he had on the her arm and watched as she slipped away into the crowd of other first years.

Sirius felt a pull on his other arm and turned around to face a face so similar to Cassadee's that for less than a second he believed it was her. A smile began to twitch at the edge of his mouth as he thought that she had circled round and just played a joke on them, but his expression immediately turned to a frown when he realised that it was infact James. "Dude you don't have to look so happy to see me!" sarcasm dripped at every single word James uttered but the broad smile on his face showed there was no hard feelings between the two. "Come on the boats are gonna leave!" James dragged Sirius away from the spot that he felt stuck in, his eyes were still searching for Cassadee as he was dragged to the edge of the boat.

Cassadee found the girl with the bright hair as she was climbing into a boat with a boy who had shoulder length black hair. He was holding her hand and helping her step into the boat. Cassadee stepped closer and as the girl looked up she waved Cassadee over. "Hey! Do you wanna join us?" Her face seemed kind and genuine, so Cassadee felt comfortable to nod and walk over to the pair. "Thanks so much." She stepped into the boat and smiled at the two other first years that sat together.

The  auburn haired girl smiled as the boats set off from the dock and Cassadee sat down. "I'm Lily, Lily Evans." Her face and voice seemed so kind and her eyes shone with friendliness. "Hi! I'm Cassadee I think we briefly met on the platform..." Cassadee trailed off as she was uncertain whether Lily remembered or if it was even actually her that she had met. "Yeah. I can't believe we didn't even tell each other our names! We just kept talking about how excited we were to get here!" Lily smiled and laughed as she said this then turned to the black haired boy that sat next to her. She nudged him with her elbow to his ribs and when he looked up from his feet to her, she motioned towards Cassadee as an indication for him to introduce himself. The boy looked up at Cassadee and when he made eye contact, they both held a look of recollection.

"Severus Snape... is that you?"
