Chapter 13 - She's Going to be Okay

what I meant." Madame Pomfrey leaned down and placed her arms around the man she still remembered as a boy. "She's gonna be okay. She's got a major concussion and did loose a large amount of blood, but if it wasn't for you and that Malfoy boy... Let's not think of that. She will be fine. It's down to her as to when she wakes up now." Pomfrey could see the relief visibly escape his body as he leant into her shoulder and cried. This time though, the tears were of relief.

Remus sighed as the relief flooded through his body. Cassadee was gonna be alright. He continued to cry into Poppy's shoulder, his mind flashing back to his days as a student at the school. After every full moon, before his friends helped him, sometimes after as well, he was in this very hospital wing, crying over what he became, the monster he believed he was. He was so wrapped up in his fear of himself, he never noticed the girl that was always only a couple of beds away, fearing herself as much as he did, maybe more.

Mcgonagall rushed towards the hospital wing, as she was desperate to find out what had happened to Miss Potter, as she approached she heard sobbing. This made her panic more as she hurried her movements and rounded the corner. Her eyes zeroed in on the two figures on the floor, Madame Pomfrey who seemed to be consoling a distressed Remus. A jolt of fear ran through Mcgonagall as she witnessed this scene. Her footsteps slowed as her mind ran faster, only seeming to stay on the worst possible scenarios.

As he was beginning to calm down, Remus heard footsteps approaching him and Pomfrey. He gently pushed her comforting arms away and looked up to meet the worried eyes of his old professor. "She... She's..." Remus hiccupped as he tried to reassure the older women. Mcgonagall's face dropped even further when her former student was unable to form a sentence. She was already fearing the worst so his struggle did not console her in even the smallest form. "Oh Godric... Merlin... How?" Mcgonagall mumbled... her voice growing weaker with each word, as a tear leaked down her usually serious face.

Remus saw the tear on her face and immediately leapt from the floor and pulled her into a hug. "No... No... Minnie it's not what you think! She's okay... She's gonna be okay!!" Remus laughed as he spoke, more tears streaming down his face. Minerva's heart leapt out of her stomach... and relief flooded through her body. "She's gonna be okay? Thank Godric!" The two Professors stood in the middle of the corridor sobbing and hugging each other. Minerva smiled as she thought about how Remus had called her Minnie and the memories of the group of smiling children that it brought back.

Harry had been trying to catch the attention of Mcgonagall for the entire meal but she never really glanced at them. Even during the sorting, she seemed very distracted and Dumbledore had to keep clearing his throat in order to bring her attention back to reading out the names. Dumbledore's speech this year seemed to last much longer than normal and Harry did not pay too much attention to any of it, until some words had broken him out of his thoughts. "As Professor Lockhart left us so unfortunately at the end of last year..." Harry swore he saw a smirk on the headmaster's face as he said this, "We will have two new Professors taking over as the Defence Against the Dark Arts Teacher. However they are unable to join us for this feast, but I am sure that they will introduce themselves to you soon." The entire school waited for him to say the Professors names, but he left them waiting as he announced the start of the feast and the food appeared on the tables.

Not even five minutes into the welcome feast, Harry watched as Mcgonagall whispered to Dumbledore before his face grew into one of sympathy as he patted her shoulder and waved her off, replying to what he could only have guessed was her question. At this, Mcgonagall hurried out the door next to the teachers table, in what seemed to be a way to not draw any attention, but Harry noticed her hurried steps and concerned face. He stood up to follow her, curious as to what had concerned the Professor so much, and excused himself from the table. Hermione and Ron shouted after him, questioning his movements and calling him back. But Harry did not hear them or chose not to, as he too hurried out of the great hall. He heard footsteps heading away and guessed that was the direction that Mcgonagall had gone in, towards the hospital wing. He wanted to ask her about the man earlier, and those creatures on the train.

He turned the corner of the hospital corridor, only to hear the footsteps stop and sobbing. Poking his head around the wall slowly he saw the man from the train earlier slumped on the floor as Madame Pomfrey was attempting to comfort him. They exchanged words in hushed tones with Mcgonagall that Harry was unable to hear, but he saw the older woman's shoulders slump in relief as she began to shake and the man bought her into a hug. He heard a choked "She's gonna be okay..." But before Harry could even begin to wonder who they were talking about, he felt a hand clasp on his shoulder and pull him back around the corner and out of sight of the professors.

A/N: Sorry this has taken so long! I'm trying to get better I promise!
