Chapter 7 - Don't faint on us again Potter
Even though Draco was only a third year he still managed to pull the women into the compartment, with great difficulty, but he felt as though she was safer than in the hall, especially with the amounts of students running around. Draco began to walk through the train looking for a man who he did not recognise, the man that had to be 'Remus'.
He saw Granger and Weasley in a carriage with a weary eyed Potter and a tall auburn haired man that Draco did not remember seeing before. He assumed that this was the man the women had asked for. No matter how concerned Draco was for the woman, he knew that his father would batter him if he let down the facade in-front of the Gryffindors, so he just barged into their compartment and watched as the eyes moved to him. Weasley was the first to speak, his eyes full of hate and confusion, "What do you want Malfoy?" He all but spat at the Slytherin. "Don't flatter yourself Weasel" a grimace graced both of their faces. "I came for him." Draco gestured to the man who was currently handing Potter a bar of chocolate.
Remus glanced up as the door to the compartment opened but when he saw it was another student he did not pay any more attention to the conversation that ensued. He fished a chocolate bar out of his pocket for young Harry, "Here this should help." Remus said as he patted the boy on the shoulder, concern showing on all of his features. The rest of the carriage suddenly went silent so Remus looked up at the three students standing near the door, all looking at him. "What?" Remus spoke up, genuinely confused. "It seems professor that Malfoy needs you elsewhere in the train." Hermione Granger was the one to reply. The bitterness in her tone was evident but she still attempted to be polite and Remus could tell that she was concerned about this other boy and why he needed Remus to go.
Draco was getting more and more impatient the longer this man was taking. His concern for the mysterious lady was growing and he knew that she would need help and this man was the best he had. "Professor is it? We must go there is someone who has asked for your help." Draco knew his tone was full of arrogance, but that was what his father had beaten into him so he had no other voice. He needed to get help to this woman. He began to walk back through the hallway, hoping that the man would follow him through the train, but Draco turned back once again as he knew that if he did not make fun of the so called "golden trio" something would seem different and odd to them. So he shouted back to them "Oh and Potter. Don't faint on us again, just incase those scary dementors come back." The mockery he had put into his voice more evident than the concern that he was still feeling for this women.
Remus followed the platinum haired boy through the train, wondering who it was that needed his help. But, amidst the curiosity he could not help but to remember the years he was running through this very train's corridors with his old friends and having the time of his life, all of them laughing away. As the boy opened the door to a compartment, Remus followed in, expecting to see a group of students that needed to speak with him, or an ill student, but he did not expect to see Cassadee sprawled over one of the benches with a small pool of blood on the fabric. "I saw her in the corridor as I was walking. She threw up and has a gash on the side of her head, I'm guessing she fell before I saw her." Remus listened intently to the boy but was looking at one of his dearest friends, blaming himself for her getting hurt. "She called for someone called 'Remus' which I assume to be you as you both appear about the same age." Remus nodded and turned to the boy, trying to show the relief and thankfulness in his expression. "Yes, I am. Remus Lupin" He shook the boys hand. "Thank you for helping her and coming to find me. I can't imagine how long she would have been out there if not for you."
He used to believe the train was a safe way for students to reach Hogwarts but with the dementor attack on Harry and this happening to Cassadee, Remus was no longer as sure. He knew that in the wizarding world right now nowhere was safe, but the train had to better than other places, not as good as Hogwarts, nowhere was as safe as Hogwarts in Remus' opinion. Little did he know how much that opinion would change in the coming months and years, days even when he had to explain to Cassadee what had happened to her nephew...
