Chapter 30 – Series of Coincidences

Minerva knew that that two of her students were werewolves, she was glad that they had found each other in their first year, despite neither of them knowing of the other. When she was sure that their other friends had found out, she knew the plan to transform into animagi. Sirius Black could never be described as subtle. Knowing of this, she had hinted towards certain books and ingredients during her lessons or talks with them. Coincidentally, Slughorn had used the exact ingredients required in the process, at the correct times in his potions lessons. The students themselves, of course, never picking up on this, just thinking it was coincidental. 

So the months went by and both Potter and Lupin had confidence now walking around the castle, neither as skittish and they had been at the start of the year. They knew who they were and seemed to be proud of it, or at least just more accepting. The entire group had barely even got one detention between them in this time, scaring teachers and other students that they were planning something big. The buzz was all around the castle, an anticipation of what the infamous Gryffindors were going to do next. This excitement was not lost on Lily Evans.

The ginger haired girl strode up to Cassadee in the corridor on a dreary Thursday morning, the fog slowly disappearing from the alcoves that bordered the courtyard. "What are you planning?" The blunt question confusing the Potter girl. "Don't look at me like i'm the crazy one here Cass, you and your group of miscreants have always done something. Its been so long that Sev is starting to get nervous that hes going to get hurt."

"Who, us? Why we would never  hurt any one Lils. Especially Severus and his little Slytherin clique." 

"Wipe that smirk of your face Potter. Here I was thinking you were better than your brother, but clearly not." Thinking she had gotten the final word in Lily huffed and spun around, striding away from her dorm mate. "You love me really Lily!" The shout echoed down the bustling corridor causing a smile to sneak through onto Evans' face, no matter how annoyed she thought she was. Yes, the Potter girl was infuriating at times, but they had also become such close friends since their initial incident on the first day. 

Until this interaction, Cassadee and the boys had been unaware of the castle waiting on their next move. Her and Remus were initially so relieved that nothing had bothered them in the slightest. Nothing, that was, until they found out the plan that the other three boys, namely Sirius, had come up with. "No, I won't let you. We won't let you three be so stupid in doing this just for us. You'd be risking your lives, let alone breaking the law!"

"Well then doll, it's a good thing that it's not down to you two isn't it?" James didn't even notice the pet name, too focused on the disapproval of his twin at his actions. "Cass, we are doing this to help you and Remus, I've alwasy sworn to protect and be there for you, this is me fufilling that promise. The three of us chose to do this. Theres no way that we are going to backdown from this. I'm sorry but this is just soemthing we need to do now."

Normally James' speech would not be enough for his twin to convince her, so he was full of shock when she just sighed and looked at Peter, Sirius and himself. "As long as you three are sure of this... You don't feel forced into it.... then I have to say thank you. Thank you for caring for Remus and I so much that you are willing to do anything for us. As much as I disapprove what you are doing,  I can never thank you enough." 

After this, the five were so focused on making sure that the plan would work that they were all oblivious until Cassadee came to lunch after her talk with Lily. "Guess what I heard" she gloated. "Slughorn's going to let us off that 5 page essay?"

"No Sirius, and how have you not started that? It's due in 2 hours?"

"Don't worry about me Dee, just tell us" He grumbled, sure that the news wouldn't be as good as his hopes were. "The entire castle thinks we are planning something, something big."
