Jasmine's POV

I'm lying on the bed, scrolling through Tumblr on my iPhone as I hear the door open. My roommate must be here. I lock my phone and climb down my bed. It's not a tiny bed, yet it's not as big as the double one I owned back home. Thank God I arrived first and got the window side.

"Hey!" she squeals as I plug my phone into the charger.

"Hi," I smile and walk towards her. "I'm Jasmine,"

"I'm Kate," she smiles. She seems very kind and sweet. "That's a long name! Do you have a nickname or something?"

"You can call me Minnie I guess," I smile.

"Uhm, I'm so hungry can you order some pizza while I settle in?" she says and digs into one of her suitcases quickly.

"Is veggie okay for you?" I ask, knowing she probably won't understand me being vegetarian.

"Yeah, I'm vegetarian anyway," she says.

Oh thank God! I have a vegetarian friend at last! I order some pizza, and we spend the rest of the night chattering and eating.

"You've already filled the fridge!" she says, surprised.

"I hope that's okay for you," I mumble. I knew she would be u-

"Yes, of course it is," she smiles, cutting off my thoughts. "When did you come in here anyway? It seems like you've already settled in."

"I came at the beginning of this week."

"Where do you live?" she asks, climbing on my bed and sitting cross leg.

"Plymouth," I reply. "You?"

"California," she smiles. I can tell by her partly tanned skin and blonde hair. She has the typical Californian girl look. "Did your parents send you here? I study here in this school since the beginning of high school. My parents travel a lot, so why not just send their daughter on a boarding school?" God, she talks a lot. She seems so cute with her squeaky voice and chattering.

"I wanted to come and study here on my own," I say. I'm actually very concerned about how this will turn out. It's a crowded place I've never been in before, and I have no idea how the students or the teachers are. So far I seem to like London. I've visited some libraries and a few shops to buy the stuff I'd need; a shower curtain, some food, notebooks, shower gels, etc.

"Well, I still have to empty that suitcase over there full of school stuff, so I should stop talking," she giggles.

"I could help you?" I offer, she smiles and nods, and I climb down the bed.

"Wait wait! I still have to grab my phone from the charger! Oh, and that bagel over there! Oh God, where's my room key?!" Kate hurries around the room as I wait for her at the door. I've had my breakfast, got dressed, brushed my teeth, gathered my things for the day, put some makeup on, tried to braid my hair and finally gave up after ten minutes, put my shoes on, and she's still not ready. And she's so hyper, that she woke up even before me, which is like 5.30am, I guess.

"Okay, okay! We're ready to go," she smiles, sliding her backpack up her arms.

We start to walk towards the school in a medium pace, as she talks about her summer with her friends. It's an almost ten minute walk to school. The dorms are not too far, and not too close; which is a good start for me, because I get to warm up for the day. However, Kate keeps complaining about the distance, which is not a distance at all.

Finally, we arrive at the school, and head towards the office to get our schedules. We have gym, vocal and history together. I'm glad to find out that we share another thing in common with my roomie. She says goodbye to me as I pad through the long corridor, trying to find the room my first class will be, which is... I check my schedule again... English literature. That's good, beause it has always been one of my favorites.

I finally find the room, and walk inside. The class is almost full, considering the class will be starting in three minutes. Yet the teacher is still not in the classroom. There are two places left. I have to sit next to a geek girl who's playing a game on an electronic thing, or a guy who 's sitting next to the wall, leaned on the table, scribbling something on a piece of paper. Technology is not my best subject, as you can guess, so I prefer to sit next to the guy.

I sit down and he looks up. I can tell he's surprised. "Hey," I smile.

He looks up at me, and then at her paper, then again at me. "Hey there," he says. He's a black guy. He's wearing a pair of red jeans and a black and white striped t-shirt. He seems shy.

"I'm Minnie," I encourage him. He chuckles, "That's ironic," he says, looking down at her paper. I look down along with him, and see that he's drawn a mickey on the paper.

I laugh along with him. "That's a pretty good dra-"

My words are interrupted by a mature yet teasing voice. "Am I interrupting something," he says. I turn around to see an incredibly hot guy with colorful eyes and an athletic body.

"Yes. Who are you?" I say sarcastically, trying not to give in.

"I'm Mr. Alton; just like I said while you were talking about Disney characters."

Shit. Realization hits me suddenly.

He's the teacher.
